Do you take a multivitamin

Is it essential to take a multi vitmain on top of a good diet if you are a bodybuilder?

Because one of my mates said if your diet isnt very good you will actually be using all your nutrients up so technically your body will get worse.

But with all this talk about multi vitamins taking 16 years off your life, it makes you wonder.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Also if after every workout I do I go on the bike for a 30 second sprint will this increase my growth hormone levels (maybe even ever so slightly) and in effect make me grow more than I normally would?

At the moment I take them because of a poor diet and my immune system being shot to pieces due to alcohol. Once my diet is sorted out and I am getting the vitamins I require I would stop taking the extra tablets.

To be fair man, if I posted this in the supplements section it wouldnt get the recognition it would in General. + i dont think you can really call a multivitamin a supplement I mean obviously it is but its a lame one.

@ mma guy. Not even slightly then?

    Surely its science.

If sprinting on a bike for 30sec is the best method proven to increase hgh levels than it would make sense to do this at the end of the session, if you can give me a reason why it wouldnt benefit then fair enough.

    http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/m_2460067/mpage_2/key_growth%252Chormone/tm.htm#2497017

Researchers compared growth hormone levels in several ways — resting, after a single 6 second cycle sprint, and after a 30 second cycle sprint. They also measured growth hormone for hours afterwards to see how long growth.hormone stayed in participant’s bodies after exercise. (The time course of the human growth hormone response to a 6s and a 30s cycle ergometer sprint, 2002, Stokes).

    The Results

The 6 second sprint method did move HGH some. But it didn’t come close to the body’s potential to release this powerful hormone. It takes at least 8 seconds of high-intensity to typically reach lactic acid (a mission critical HGH release benchmark).

The 30 second all-out effort cycle sprint experiment increased HGH by 530% over resting baseline. And the 30 second sprint produced a response 450% greater than the lesser intensity sprint. (A summary of this study can be seen at the National Institutes of Health, link below.)

Like earlier research studies, growth.hormone stayed elevated for 1.5 to 2 hours after the sprint program.

**And apparently repeated sprints create more lactic acid and HGH

After the recent Cochrane review, I am now more convinced than ever that multivit/mineral is probably a waste of time.

Not even slightly then= so your saying it doesnt even raise hgh levels slightly?

I could bet my manhood that doing a 30sec sprint after a workout would be more benefit to gaining muscle than not doing a 30 sec sprint after a workout.

Also I think your analysing the situation to much the only reason I posted it in GENERAL is because I know it wouldnt get recognition in the supplements section as I stated.

at your weight and state of training you wouldnt even notice the blip in HGH levels.
TBH anyone would rather not do the 30 sec sprint and take the benefit of relaxing and reaping the benefits of increased recovery and recouperation.
