Does an HIIT session require a warmup?

I was looking at the 8 week HIIT cycle

Its very appealing given that you start with a duration of 4mins, but do i need to warmup or stretch? seems a bit intense to just jump off the couch and go for it! :)

DEFINITELY need a warmup.. I usually get myself to 60% Max HR before going full out - takes about two minutes.

well, don't take that as a figure written in stone.. that's just how long it takes for me to get warmed up (my warmups aren't really lite).. one way I can tell if I'm warmed up is by timing my very first sprint. I run outside, and I don't sprint for set intervals like most - I sprint for set distances. So on my first sprint, if I'm more than +1s my normal time (which I already know), then I know I didn't have a good warmup for example... just a suggestion.

4 minutes is appealing, UNTIL you actually go out there. hehe i thought it would be easy first time i saw. i think i would rather run for an hour but HIIT works better so ive lived with it
