Does your body adjust to a cadio routine?

With weight training routines some people say to change your routine after certain amounts of time so your body doesnt get used to the exercises.

Does the same principle apply to cardio (weight loss cardio in this case)?

Should you change from running to cycling after a few months/weeks?

Thanks.

Your body isnt going to know the difference between a bike and a treadmill.

yes- of course it adapts- you get fitter

but i see what your saying m8- i would think that your body may become more efficient at performing the movement when its practiced 1000s of times (eg cycling, rowing, skipping). this increase in efficiency MAY lead to a slightly lower heart rate and energy output, but i would imagine that it would only account for 1 or 2 BPM or so, if anything!

but remember that its also the cardiovascular system your working when doing cardio, as opposed to just the muscle (when doing weights). provided your doing the same work each workout then you will burn the same amount of cals

you may wish to vary your cardio but i would do this to avoid getting bored more than fear of "adjusting"

    Cheers guys.

I thought as much. Some two-pint pundit was giving me fitness advice the other night and he was quite adamant you had to change it around to loose fat.

You may have to up cardio in order to get where you want to be.

At the same time as either lowering cals or upping calories slightly, as you lose fat/weight.
