Does your gym let you drink sports drinks while on the treadmill?

Just had some bloke running full pelt on the treadmill decide to open a bottle of fizzy Lucozade, which was sufficiently shaken to explode all over the treadmill, him and the wall.

It's made a right mess and this isn't the first time it's happened

I'm considering putting up a "no drinks on the treadmill" sign.

Is that too harsh or is it normal in your gym?

Thanks,

Righty, who is about to go and scrape the fizzy stuff off the walls and treadmill belt.

Yeh my gym allows it, but most people are sensible enough to have non fizzy drinks. How about a ban of fizzy drink?

Mine does, we're also allowed the toaster in the shower...

I'd put the sign up on the treadmill but also take the sign from the front door that says 'all idiots welcome'

tbh it should be common sense..
Its the same ones that take their mobiles in the gym and then greet when they drop a weight on it
Stupid ppl shouldnt be allowed in a gym full stop and if they need a sign to make them realise then go for it.

my gym allows it, i think banning drinking full stop would be harsh but a sign that says 'no carbonated drinks on the treadmill' is fair

One guy had a bottle of lucosade sport on the gym floor... when he finished his set and dropped the dumbbells it sounded like a gun went off as lucosade was sprayed up the mirror and all over the dumbbells

I would be happy with that.Plus i would not drink while running fast.I usally use cross trainer or fast walking on the treadmill so drinking water is quite safe when using a sports bottle, not a screw top one.

    How about, as suggested:

"No fizzy drinks on the cardio equipment"

    or the slightly harsher

"No dumbfcuks allowed past this entrance" at the entrance door.

Even water on a treadmill could probably land a gym owner in trouble if it gets spilled onto the running belt and not reported - next user promptly slips and, bingo, lawsuit.

Hmm, how about an IQ test on joining? No, hang on, I'd lose 80% of my members.

In long duration cardio, sports isotonic drinks could be advantageous

Fizzy drinks are however disadvantageous to performance, so I'd ban fizzy only

    Quality

While I'm having a moan, someone has missed the toilet by over two feet and peed all down the dividing wall. How is that even possible?

Righty with a mop to go and remove the pee.

That reminds me of last week when I brought a bottle of fizzy Lu**zade from a cornershop (usual type) as I passed it too him he promptly dropped it, I said that that'll fizz mate, he said no, so I opened it in front of him and promptly gave him an orangeade shower

Hmmm yeah ud think they'd have more commonsense than that.
Water can damage equipment and damage other users too if spilt.
You should have a little word in the fellas ear and tell him how bloody irresponsible it was of him to run full pelt while drinking, and tell him if it happens again You'l have to ask him to leave for good

banning fizzy is reasonable, banning all drinks its totally unreasonable given the nature of running. banning fizzy should take care of most of the problems surely.

I think that once you have the 'pleasure' of working in a gym , your entire perspective of what should and shouldn't be allowed changes !

Some of the things people do - which don't seem significant to your average member , actually drive Gym-ops like myself absolutely mad !!

Fizzy Red kick , when tipped all over gym equipment leaves a sticky red film which is a pain in the ass to get off , Idiots that buy fit proteins , then throw the bottle in the bin half drunk with no lid on , so when I go to empty the bin I spill poxy strawberry protein drink all over a BRAND NEW pair Air max 360's - Idiots that bounce dumbells all around the gym , then don't bother putting them away - or putting them in the wrong place because they are to stupid to realise that "32.5" belongs between "30" and "35" , not between 10 and 15 ... or how about the twats that think the 5k plates belong on the 20k rack , behind several 20k plates
Then there are the people that tell you they don't need an induction when signing up , but when they come in for their first session expect you to show them around the gym , show them how everything works and then take them through a programme (Yes, that is an induction !! )
Chalk - great on your hands and the bar - not so great tipped all over all the equipment !

Musical pins - Retards that enjoy swapping the pins in all the stack machines , leaving them all ill fitting - and givng me an hours job of working out which goes where

Toilets - Male gym members simply shouldn't be allowed to use them until they can prove that the can P*** INTO the toilet rather than the floor - and can work out how to use a toilet roll without dropping bits all over the floor or dropping the whole thing in the toilet

I love working in a gym
