Dog smashes into dashboard

I have had enough of today.

Driving to pick the missus up, doing 30 in a 30, and this bloke coming towards me decides to turn right, into my path, at about 1m away from me.

I smack on the brakes, my dog flies from the back seat over the front seat and into the hard-edged dash - and the cnut just drives off.

It happened literally 50m from where I'm to pick my wife up, so I pick her up - she jumps in the back as the dog is now in the front, I U-turn and go down the turn this tw4t has just taken.

He's at the bottom of the road on his phone, looking pretty fcuking shocked at the rate my car is bearing down.

I'm trying to get the seat belt off while the missus is trying to strangle me with it to stop me getting out and all this cnut can squeak while looking for somewhere to run is: "I don't normally drive like that. Sorry, I was on my phone."

Which just made me blow my fcuking stack.

Clocked the CCTV cameras in the street and had to leave it, but honestly, WTF?

Did you get his details - it could be classed as an accident surely. No impact needs to happen to be considered an accident IMO and if you end up needing medical help for your dog then i'd want to be able to chase the muppet up.

He was driving dangerously - no amount of excuses about i don't drive like that normally make up for it and he even admitted being on his phone.

Glad your missus stopped you as it wouldn't have helped to smash him in (tm) although it would have made you feel pretty good

Awesome pic, but Tony you're not doing yourself many favours posting up tips on preventing the gag reflex and then a picture of a guy touching his toes - Ak

Wouldn't work, Righty would just get in trouble for not having the dog in a harness.

why do dogs not have to be strapped in anyway? you would strap a child in, not only that but if the dog was behind you it would have caused a bigger problem than just crashing into the dashboard

They do as far as I'm aware, I must admit I'm guilty of not strapping mine in either

Is there a definitive answer to strapping your dog in in the car as I did have a thread on this a few months back - ie the legal side of tieing your dog down and I think the concensus was it wasn't actually a requirement.

to be honest I have never seen a dog strapped in a car, I just wondered what the law was, as you can be the best driver in the world but if someone goes into the back of you, your still going to have a crash - if a dog flies into the back of you in a high speed accident, I would imagine you would get seriously injured.

Main thing is that your dog is ok. Sounds like he is so it's ok. Personally i think i would have a car with those bars/cages in the boot purely for his own safety. Although i'm sure in a crash they wouldn't be the greatest of help but it's not just him you want to think about but also what would happen if he flew into you.

Have to admit, I don't use a phone when driving. I would, but I'm too tight to buy a handsfree kit.

When I were a yoof, people used to drive round on their CB radios, magnetic roof-mounted 40ft aerial shorting every power station out for miles around.

I'm going to start putting him in the boot. It's a hatchback and he'll be isolated but I'll put a Nintendo DS or somesuch in to keep him occupied.

You know you can buy one for a fiver in the supermarket right?

Or do i simply not realise the extent of your tightness? I knew 40p on your chinese was too much so perhaps ihave lost a sense of perspective.

Fi though - you drive an MGF don't you? So you're not worried about looking silly wearing a bluetooth headset

Some perspective: I have bought less than £40 of clothes in the last three years apart from work clothes.

When I owned a gym, I spent roughly zero on food per annum as clients who worked at local restaurants and food distributors used to bring in kilo tubs of curry/chocolate cake etc. Adjusting to having to buy food after I sold the gym was a tormenting experience.

I only buy cars from mates as they are easy to knock down.

If a food box says "value" on it, it is mine.

The only time I ever buy meat is when it is as low, at least, as half price. Then I will buy 5-10kg of it and freeze it.

Aside from the trauma of having to buy food, the only three things I ever spend non-essential money on are cigarettes, Chinese takeaway and rented X-box games. These are my three vices though the fags and Chinese will both be going soon.

The concept of wasting money on something like one of thoise ipod things makes me sweat.

Five pounds on an ear thing to make you look like a tw4t is never going to happen. If I got one as a present, I would take it back to the shop and exchange it for something essential.

    Yes, I am tight. Lol.

Haha fair enough. For me a bluetooth headset is essential as i need to make calls when i'm in the car and it's just not worth the hassle of potentially getting caught without one, on the phone and then the points and fine.

If it was a considerable amount of money i would be torn, but when it's the price of a chickten satay & rice IMHO it's got to be worth it.

Depending of course on the quality of your local chinese - but based on your recent posts i would not be too impressed with your local
