Drinking olive oil?

Is it wise to add olive oil to my home made weight gainers?

Was thinking of adding maybe 25/50 ml once a day.

What do people think?

    as above mate

    sustainability

over time, if you try enough foods, you can replicate the macro and micronutrient values of foods you dont like with those you do = sustainability and thus reducing the tendency to either binge or simply give up the whole 'diet'

My personal opinion is that out of flax and olive oil, the olive oil tastes far far more palletable. The flax makes the drink taste so bad i nearly spewed it back up a few times. Never tried udos though........

I'd certainly cook with olive oil, couldn't face drinking it! A decent flax oil or udos are far more palatable and have far better EFA profile.

Kick me if i am wrong but didn't think Olive Oil was much of a source of EFA's anyway some Omega 6 init but mostly Monosats I believe .. good fats yes but EFA's .. No .. Flax is better .. UDO's the best IMO.. it tastes pretty nice too .. Nice oil .. just a bit pricey though i just got some for just over a tenner for 500ml bottle ..

yes, udos IMO is the best option

the though of olive oil in a shake is IMO pretty rough and wouldnt fit into my diet

omega 6 are efas too, its just a typical western diet has lots of them compared to O3s.

Just eat oily fish and you're sorted

You get use to the taste of olive oil. I use to despise it, but now I have it on things like salads, morning protein shakes (not around a workout), and so on, I really can't taste the stuff in my shakes at all, although it does tend to float to the top and look gag worthy, it's not . Olive oil is high in monos, which is omega 6 I think? It depends on the brand.

Compared to some of the things people here eat, putting a bit of olive oil in a home made weight gain shake seems like nothing

no need to mess up the taste of a shake, be a man and just drink it neat by the spoonful then knock back a protein shake to wash it down.

didn't think O6 was a mono sat ? but I my be wrong .. correct me someone I thought Olive oil had only a tiny proportion of EFA's ... better sources of O6 are Seasame oil , sunflower oil , evening primrose oil and the like .. I don't think you will get all your EFA's from Olive oil and fish .. indeed if you eat alot of O3 from fish and little or no O6 you could end up with an O6 deficit ... unless you use alot of sunflower oil for cooking which is where i believe the thinking that we get too much O6 comes from .. alot if Sunflower oils in things ... As i said I stand to be corrected but I think I am right on this
