Dumbbell Squats

When I do that exercise, is it necessary to touch the dumbbells on the ground when going down, or half away through should be ok?

Are talking bulgarian style, single leg squats, or more like dumbbell deadlifts?

Not deadlifts, not single leg squats, I don't know what bulgarian style is...

I was talking about regular dumbbell squats.

There are no "regular" dumbbell squats. Some people do them with dumbbels at their shoulders (so it's sort of like a front squat), some down in front of them (so it's really more of a deadlift than a squat), some to their sides (which is still a lot like a deadlift with something like a trap bar, though some people call them squats). Which is it?

I do them with dumbbells on my sides. Its more like sit ups while holding dumbbells on my sides.

Generally a squat is deep enough when your knees reach about 90º, so go as low as you need to do that. I personally like going a tad lower, but on that particular lift I find it gets pretty awkward going very low.
