Hope so- all the Ice hockey in on ESPN (or NASN, are they the same thing?).

I did used to get it- but whatever Virgin did to the cable a few weeks ago has lost nearly every channel, including most of the normal freeview ones.

    Unaffiliated.

Cool, virgin have really upped their game.  Their service and packages at the moment is far better than sky.  Cant see myself going back them in the near future.

Is it ESPN Europe or US?
The European one is already free, just need a receiver.

I personally cant notice a huge difference when watching HD tbh, i can see it is a better picture but wouldnt pay the extra money for it, just my view though.

Difference of course being that the regular Sky are overly compressed to make things run ok...the Virgin ones arnt...then the HD channels....well they are quite compressed too, nothing stunning...and not much what a proper HD source actually looks like...

Saying that Virgin arnt the best, just better....getting an ESPN feed for free would be a hell of a good move tho.

Is 'HD' TV even 1920x1080? I'd have thought it was 1280x720.

Most stuff on TV is too **** to need any more pixels though.

I think its has to be 720, remember reading about the abilty to send at 1080 over a broadcast isnt possible, but theirs compressed 720, then theirs regular 720 from say a player...I dont think poeple would be so happy about the whole SkyHD thing if they saw how their channels where supposed to look at regular quality..not a big deal...its just the Sky system...something Virgin need to get better at.

Should be possible technically to do 1920x1080 if they use h.264, since the internet cables do at least 10MB, which is enough to stream it. I think you'd need 50MB to stream unencoded 1920x1080 though. Would be fine if we had a decent fibre network or some kind of p2p system.

Think you'll find there's a lot more now and they are free also.........

even the picture upscaling is better on none HD channels through the virgn box than sky's box.
