Eating before and after HIIT

Right now I am bulking and I want to incorporate HIIT first thing in the morning 2-3x per week to just minimize my fat gain while bulking. I have been looking at similar posts and everyone seems to have a different opinion. Some say do it on an empty stomach, others say with just a scoop of whey, and some say you need carbs and protein before HIIT. So what do you guys think is optimal for maintaining muscle mass but also benefiting the fat burning process. I was thinking just a scoop of whey. Also, what do you recommend for immediately after HIIT? Should I treat it like I would a weightlifing workout and have a shake with some oats, whey, and banana? Usually after lifting I have 70g oatmeal, 5oz banana, and 1.5 scoops whey

So when would you recommend doing it (weight days/off days, morning/afternoon) and how would you structure meals around it and with what?
