Effects of alcohol???

How does drinking effect your workouts and gains? Say drinking the night of the day you work out, or the night before? Even how about if you drink 2 or more times a week? Is there any safe ammount to drink that won't hurt your body? I just recently heard it breaks down your muscles and I wanted to know what its all about.

Alcohol has lots of bad effects to bodybuilding. Increases oestrogen, dehydration, makes you tired, empty calories. It really is bad.

In my opinion drinking and body building do not mix. That isn't to say all body builders should be T total, just not drink to excess reguarally.

Personally I drink every 6 months or so, if that.

The way I see it is that a drink may only have a little difference, a mars bar may only have a little difference, missing a session may only have a little difference, but all of these little differences make up a big difference which separate the successful body builders from the others.

If i drink the night before I work-out then my performance definately suffers as I feel more listless and have less energy so I dont lift as much and my heart isnt in the workout in tha same way. This applies to me even if I only have one beer, maybe others are different. For this reason I now no longer drink during the week and have limited my weekend alcohol consumption considerably. By doing this I now feel more healthy than ever and have much more 'get up' if you like,,, oh and its easier to get up in the morning too!

I guess the other consideration is the empty calories which will aid you getting a large beer muscle

Everything in moderation mate... just find what works for you.
