Fat Loss

Hi,

just started working out and would like to know if what im doing will make me lose weight.

I train 3 times a week for about an hour and I also do 20 minutes cardio (fast paced walk uphill) every day. I usually burn about 400 calories when doing cardio

For breakfast I have readybreak or oats with pure whey (http://www.fastresearch.co.uk/pp/Protein_Powders/Pure_Whey_x_2000_Grams.html) sprinkled on top

At about 10am I have a pure whey shake

At about 1pm I have 200g of chicken breast in wholemeal pitta bread.

If im training, ill have a banana at about 4pm and have a workout at 5pm and eat at about 7pm. Ill have 2 chicken breasts with vegetables. Then at about 10pm Ill have a promax diet shake (http://store.maximuscle.com/epages/maximuscle.storefront/44b0d1c70147d2482743ac1001b10689/Product/View/SLIMC)

If im not training, ill have dinner (2 chicken breast with veg) at about 5 and then the promax diet shake at about 9pm

Also, before each main meal (breakfast, 1pm and dinner), im taking one of these (http://www.fuelsport.co.uk/productPage.asp?Pro=1200401)

Does this sound like a good diet and how long will it be until I start seeing results?

Also, im looking to bulk up a bit so would it be a good idea to lose all the fat and get toned first, and then look at bulking up a bit?

Thanks guys

20 mins of cardio isn't a lot, i would bump that up.

More protein needed breakfast and at 10am.

You dont have any PWO (post workout) meal there, you can add whey in water as soon as you finish your weights.

Then at 7pm have the 2 chicken breasts with more fibrous carbs from vegetables and a portion of rice or pasta for PPWO.

10pm - lose the promax before bed, replace with solid food and healthy fats.

Your diet isn't a lot of food it seems, do you have any idea on how many calories per day this provides.

You need to look at getting Essential Fatty Acids within the diet.

Have a read of this http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/article-essential-fatty-acids.asp

Ok, how much more cardio and what type (i.e rowing, running etc)

What could I have at breakfat and 10am to increase protein intake

    what is ppwo?

What could I have at 10pm instead of the shake

Also, the training day meal is usually straight after my workout (within 20 mins) so do I still need to have a whey shake straight after training?

    Thanks

Fast walking on an incline, stationary bike, etc... 40-45 mins on a morning.

Any lean source of protein - quark, chicken, turkey, mince, egg whites, fish, etc...

    PPWO = Post post workout.

Lose the shake, replace with solid protein from above list and add healthy fats from flax oil, seeds, nuts, peanut butter, etc...

On training day, have the shake, then around an hour later have the meal, the shake will be your PWO meal and the solid meal will be your PPWO meal.

So when you say add healthy fats from flax oil, seeds, nuts, peanut butter, I could use Omega 3, 6 and 9 capsules instead?

Yes you could but i feel it would be cheaper and more beneficial to try and source them from real foods within the diet.

    Udo's for your efa's.

Do 45 min brisk walk mate every morning.

Ditch the ready break for breakfast.

Wake up, have 5-7g glutamine in water, wait 5-10 mins then do cardio (45 min brisk walk), on return immeadiately drink 10-15g whey protein. Wait 20 mins then have breakfast, egg whites and maybe 1 yolk (all depends how much your protein intake needs to be, i gather you mustve worked this out) then 60g porridge oats in water.

Carry on day as you would in your plan.

Put some glutamine in your post workout shake aswell mate, 5-7g.

Ok, trouble is is that I start work early (7:30am) so realistically only have 30 mins max in the morning to do anything. Another problem is is that Im a heating engineer which means im on the road quite a lot so am restricted in what I can eat etc.

The owner of my local gym said that a 20 min fast paced walk uphill everyday would make me lose weight, is this nor true then?

Going on the information ive given you (work times, on the raod a lot), what should I be aiming to do (both in the gym mornings/nights and eating) to lose weight? Im currently 15.5 stones and im about 6ft 3in tall. I think I need to lose about 1.5 stones, and I want to lose it quickly so that I can start ripping up and then bulking up

    Thanks guys

20 mins wont get you where you want to be i dont think.

Can you not prepare food to take with you during the day, the night before? ? ?

    30 mins cardio on a morning then? ? ?

yeah should be able to manage 30 mins cardio. I suppose I could prepare something the night before, but dont feel comfortable leaving it in a red hot van until 1pm when I eat. At the moment I bring in 200g mini chicken breasts, is that ok?

Should I be doing this everyday and everynight or just certain times???

Could someone basically tell me when to train, what to train, when to cardio and for how long and what to eat

Im aiming to lose weight and cut up and then eventually bulk up

I can do 30 mins max every morning, and I can train Monday, Wedneday and Friday, along with either Saturday or Sunday

    Any help is appreciated
