Fat lazy 47 yr old female, had massive wake up call..Needs training partner Cheshire....

ok here goes ladies or gents.
I have had a serious relationship breakdown and i have given my all to my family etc and realized i have neglected me. I want to find myself and i want to look the best i can no matter what. I have 2 hrs a day to dedicate and need help. i have no clue were to start and am going around in circles watching hundreds of videos and reading up but i have lost my self esteem so struggling to get my butt to a gym by myself. i will commit 200 percent. I am just wondering if there were any experienced fitness ladies out there that hit the weights hard and compete even that would take me under their wing or even just help other end of the phone...I live in Lymm cheshire

Hi there,
I've just read your post and I wanted to send you a quick reply even though I'm not going to be much help to you given that I live in London.  I'm the same age as you (48 in exactly 1 month's time - eek) and currently work two jobs and try to fit my training in around that and home/life.  I did competitions years ago but I'm by no means an expert.  What I could suggest straight up is firstly not to stress over weight/exercise etc but over the next couple of weeks assess your work/home life balance and set our a realistic training plan for yourself.  For me it is Mon, Wed, Fri that I make sure I get to the gym.  If I can do more on a weekend that's a bonus.  In the meantime, whilst you get into a routine with exercising perhaps take a look at your diet and start cleaning it up.  Eating well generally makes us feel better and possibly more motivated to achieve our goals.

hello :) we are the same age and although am far from you (scotland) am happy to help you with your diet, advice and routine if you want me to
The most important thing is to change the way you THINK first.
Having hope, being driven to achieve your goals and see yourself in a positive light is key to success
Dont focus on what went wrong or your situation now... focus on the end result

My first piece of advice would be to keep it simple, get a full body x 3 per week routine, and start cleaning up diet - reduce the amount of processed foods gradually.

Well done on focusing on "me" time. It's never too late to start. Just be consistent and patient with your changes and the results will soon come. It won't happen over night but with perseverance you'll get there.

Good luck and keep us informed on your progress

Hi Kerry

Been reading up a lot on stuff. i.e diet etc and trying to find a gym. Rang a couple but one said men only when it clearly isnt...great start and other just did not sound great. Off to buy some gym clothes and trainers and do a food shop. So Hope to get started on Monday. Going to pick and plan from here I think and just do a pay as you go gym until I find one I want to be stuck with. Still no interest in training buddy which is disappointing but hey hoy

What about your local leisure centre?  They should have everything you need to start off with.  Also, they should have classes that you could join in.   They will have PT's who can give you an induction and do you a programme for free.  The downside to the leisure centres is they usually come with a 12 month contract and you can often get cheaper memberships elsewhere.  Otherwise does Lymm have any of the big chain gyms like Fitness First?

Shame we're not closer.  I train on my own and would sometimes like some company.

doesn't Nina Ross live in Lymm, at least very close by? she's a pro bikini model and personal trainer. I imagine she could be quite pricey, but maybe a block week of sessions with her could set you on your way.

Whoa, jumping in at the deep end, huh?! It's usually recommended you train for a few years before you jump on steroids!!

^ I presume you're being sarcastic, but if you aren't I'm sure she means training gear (clothing).

Great advice given, just hit full body 3 times a week. Plenty of routines out there, but they can be confusing.
Also, start doing some cardio which you could always do from home. If I'm ever busy I just follow a HIIT cardio video on youtube, or make up my own (now I have experience). Most are 20 mins maximum including a warmup and very effective. Don't stress on eating 100% clean, but try to work out what treat frequency works for you. Some like a small treat every day and that keeps them in check, but others end up binging if they do this. Others prefer a big treat at the weekend, then clean throughout the week.

Good for you Amanda.  How did your first gym session go?  Where did you settle on and did you get any help?  so many questions! :-)

p.s. I use myfitnesspal to keep track of my diet.
