Feeding your muscles!

Alright fellas,
How long after your workout does muscle consume the protein and nutrition for?
I was wondering how effective and necessary protein in particular is if I'm out the gym for maybe 3 days after a workout.

    You always need to keep your protien high in theory to stop your muscles being broken down and used for other things...
     
    How high is up for question, 1g of protien per 1lb of BW at a min really, but every person is different and other parts of your diet are just as important, fat intake for example. and overall cals.
     
    Also remember that your body might not go staright to work on reparing the muscles, ive never seen anything that says it will, just keep chucking the protien in!
