Fellow tattooed members

have you every had anyone ask you too cover up your tattoes?
I just did. I off for a meal tomorrow with a lady and her family, just for a pub lunch nothing specail. The lass i going with asked me to cover them up as her gran doens't like them! WTF!! i don't bloody think so, the cheek of it. I going to be wearing a t-shirt now, was going to wear a jumper! Why do people try dictate what you should wear, hair style you have, etc.. because they don't like them! I don't like the fact her gran is fat and doesn't do anything about it, you don't hear me askin to see if she wouldn't mind wearing a tent to the meal so that i don't get to see her rolls and gross bingo wings

dont see why you should cover them up unless they are obscene or paramilitary tattoos or something..
as you say you paid good money for them.
they tell a picture of who you are i think.
maybe you should ask the granny to wear a tent.. was pishing myself laughing reading that!

I have large Angel Wings on my back.

I'm going to be a bridesmaid next month and the bride's Mum asked if I could either leave my hair down or cover my tat with make up LOL !! .. my mate said no because it would look stupid with me being the only one with my hair down.

I don't mind really, I'm of the opinion if you get something done to your body you should kinda expect people to look or pass comment. I love my wings and that's all that matters

And though she be but little, she is fierce..

Must agree with TT here, Tats in my opinion are a very selfish thing to have done, I know mine are, they do not concern anyone else and I do not force there precence on other people. Yes you should respect other peoples requests.

why should i cover up my tats because someone doesn't like them. It like me asking you to shave off your hair because i don't like it!

I agree! Some might say tats are intimidating etc, but then so is shaving your head or even being very muscular, and you wouldnt expect these to be concealed!

thing is, it's about respect and making a good first impression to her family.
she's only asked you to cover up for that meal.

Ive got tattoos and my mrs has. she hasnt met my mum yet but when she does i will ask her to cover them up. just because i dont want my mum to make a judgement on tattoos. once she knows her then it will be fine. first impressions do count. she may take an instant dislike just because of your tattoos, which would be unfair

if im going somewhere where i feel my tattoos may hinder me then i cover them up. dont have to show off all the time

i have met her family plenty of times. Ok if you was a gay and someone said to you would YOU mind pretending your not because my gran don't like gays, would you do it? If you saw no shame in what you was then you wouldn't. Like i feel why should i i ain't hurting anyone and if she doesn't like them then don't look at them. It not like a going to BE putting them in her face sayING 'LOOK AT MY TATS B!TCH'.
