First bf test in two hours!

I've just finished an 8wk routine and am going for my first bf test at 10.30. Bit nervous, but sure whatever the results it'll spur me to do make improvements in my diet and routine. Just a bit gutted I didn't get a bf test done before the 8wks I've just done for comparison.

Started the routine at 76kg (I'm 5ft 6") and am now 76.8kg. Can tell I've lost a fair bit of 'fat' and increased muscle (esp around my shoulders/arms) a fair bit in the short space of time.

Not sure what bf% to expect to be honest as I've not really seen pics/%ages for comparison. Just got the top of my abs showing through now so am hoping its below 20%.

Wish me luck and I'll post up my results later!

    Back now...

    Measurements:

    Back: 14.5
    Biceps: 5.0
    Triceps: 20.5(!)
    Abs: 11.5

    BF% is 19.4%

Not 100% happy, but things its fair. Just a shame my tricep measurement is so much as is dragging the average right up.

At least I have a point from which to go from now. Got a killer 8wk routine planned out now, so that combined with a better diet (no more takeaways!) should hopefully get it BF% down.

The lad I'm training got 12.5%. He's trained before for a few years and has definitely been eating better than I have.

Will get a picture up later on.

Roll on the next test in 8 weeks :)

Not my local gym, but a gym a few miles up the road. The guy seemed to know what he was doing, and the lad I'm training with has had tests done there in the past.

Really am gutted about my tricep measurement. Seems weird that my bicep measurement is fairly good, but the tricep it so much. Will have to concentrate a bit more on them and try and get it down.

They had some caliper kind of things. He pinched the skin, then put the caliper things on, which then gave a measurement on a gauge on the side of the calipers. He wrote down the 4 measurements I've given above, took my age and looked something up in a book.

Whats the 'norm' for an average person?

ah ok, yeah calipers are fairly accurate ...

well it all depends ... mine is around 11% but my mate who is same height and build as me is around 15% ..

Ah well, slightly disappointed, but it'll just mean getting my arse in to gear for the next test in 8wks time.

Going to improve my diet and keep training hard!

I think the average is 30% could be wrong though. and to be honest callipers are not that accurate you should consider yourself in and a round 19% but not 19.4%. I guarantee if you went back 3 times in the next 3 days there would be a difference in the range by a couple of percent if you know what I mean.

Well, its been a few weeks since the last one and now its time for bf% test take 2! Been doing a lot more cardio recently, whilst also maintaining a good weights routine. Also been trying to eat a bit better. Started taking creatine a few weeks ago too.

Test 2 is on Sunday at 09.30hrs, will post up pics and results just before lunch time. Really hoping to be down just below 17.5% this time. Wish me luck! :)

Ignore the results, they are more than likely to be inaccurate.

    Use the mirror instead.

I know what you mean. I was dubious of the last results and would still insist I wasn't 19%. Looking at 'before & after' pics in magazines, some 'before' pictures people post up at say 18% look a lot tubbier than I did. I'll see what the calipers say tomorrow and see if they show a loss.

I'm sure I have lost some though. My veins are showing more now (especially in my arms, chest and shoulders) and I've got more definition. Might start a training journal and get some pics up.

Well, not quite what I expected. Got 18.2% this time. Bit disappointed (again), but hey.

Going cycling in France for a week next week, so will start a journal afterwards to note my progress. I'll get there!
