First time competition
I'm looking to compete in a physique / figure competition this year in the South West. There are so many different associations I'm a bit confused which one would be best. Does anyone have any advice on training and preparing for competing. Thank's 😀

There is the split between tested and non-tested federations, then once you've got past that I'd say try where your figure fits best. Nabba do a wide range of classes for all body sizes shapes and condition and I think their qualifier is Exeter so might not be a bad place to start.
For tested federations npa do a qualifier that way too.

Yes I agree NABBA have the best range, and least restrictive rules which make it a good federation for a beginner. NPA which is a lifetime non-performance enhancing drug federation, have Figure and Physique, BNBF (7 years drug free) have Athletic in addition to Figure and Physique.

Thanks for your responses! what is the main difference between figure and physique? I have been looking at the NPA and I think they are looking to hold the South West in September/October so I have time to prepare. Although I'm pretty clueless how at the moment. Anyone know of any sites to help first time competitors with diet, training posing etc they're doesn't seem to be much information to help complete beginners. Thanks for your help!

^^ what she said. For NPA they seem to favour condition in their lady bodybuilders so size isn't so much of a concern. My advice is to prep and maybe decide a month or so before when you've seen where your body is at I used to compete with the NPA myself, I did 2 years Figure and 1 year bodybuilding with them.

Welcome to MT. As one of the Directors of the PCA, I'm obviously biased, but we can accomodate you and I'm sure you'll enjoy competing. See more info at: http://www.pcaofficial.com/

Flick 161 what are the suit and shoe guidelines for the NPA figure classes? also are there necessary poses and routines? Their website doesn't provide much information and it doesn't seem to have been updated for 2017 yet. Thanks :)

You can wear thong back if you wish with NPA. Poses are quarter turns then compulsories all poses to my recollection, including ab and thigh. Then a routine rather than twalk.
