Fitness First the w@nkers

Fitness First has just got some boxing stuff so I thought nice one... some half decent cardio after my weights.

Went up, doors locked !!!???!!!
WTF?

Went down asked the guy on the desk... he said you can not use any of the boxing stuff, even the bag's and no way use the ring unless supervised.

So I though... well OK
The I said, so is it OK for me and a guy who trains with me now and again to spar... if there's a PT in there.
No, your not allowed to spar unless you do the classes.

So I asked how do I get to use the boxing room when I want then as I was planning on doing some cardio in there rather than steadu state boring plod along stuff that I hate...
He said only if you pay for a PT to just be there!!!!!!!!

In other words... it's in the members club where some CV stuff used to be that we could use.
So they have taken that facility away to replace with something that could have been good - but we basically can not use it unless we pay extra in some way.

That would annoy the hell out of me too. Maybe you could contact their head office and have a word. I used to use the heavy bag at fitness first and would schedule my visits so there were no classes on when I was there.

I wonder how much the ring will get used in fitness first?

AFAIK they arent allowed to do that, you pay a membership to use all of the facilities in their centre. If theyre saying you have to pay for it then its a very strong chance theyr ein breach of contract. Best bet is speak to the gym manager and tell him politely you understand the contract and that you will take matters to trasing standards is it isnt sorted out. Most likely theyll crap themselves and just allow you to use the room

You might be right mate but I can not be bothered
They will probably have a clause saying they reserve the right to pull your pants down and bum you while nailing your hat on at any point so I am not going to fuss

I just wanted to vent... just an example of the silly things they do, like send the cleaners out cleaning round the squat rack at peak time when I'm wobbling like fcuk with vacuum wire tickling my feet.
Just want to tell mavis the cleaner to fcuk fcuking off.

Contact the head office. I wouldn't settle for it and I'm not even the complainer type.

It is a ridiculous rule as the PTs are usually not qualified for that kind of thing anyway.

Problem with corporate gyms like fitness first. You could always leave and join a proper gym. If you ever pass buy Flex n Tone in Salford I have a boxing gym on the 1st floor with a ring and loads of bags. Bit rougher than the polished fitness boxing gyms but if you're training in the gym ask the owner Mike and he'll let you use them free as part of your gym fee (which is only 3.50)

I will get round to popping in one day, wish I lived closer... wouldn't be worth joining for me as it would cost me in petrol and time getting there at least 4 times a week and membership at FF is only £20 so it's not a bad deal.

I used to use differant/proper gyms (betta bodies, no limits, outline etc).
Fitness First is a proper gym though mate, even though it doesn't have the image - really that's the only differance.
They also have lockers and warm showers, free drinks, more weights than you could lift, etc

The only problem with FF is that they don't listen to there individual members, they seem to just do what other FF's have done as a blanket exercise.
I want a donkey calf raise and a 45 deg leg press and DB's more than 50kg's !!!!

I know what you mean mate, at the fitness first I go to they do exactly the same thing.
The room where the punch bag is located used to be open all the time when there were no classes but since a few months ago they started only opening it for the classes

    It's annoying.

I have started back at my old proper boxing club again out of spite!!! LOL

Why would I pay there little weak feeble PT's £2 for a "lesson" when I can go to my own boxing club with esablished trainers and pro boxer's to spar with and Title bags of numerous sizes instead of commercial typre reebok sh ite...
    nob-heads

If I was harder I'd join one of there lessons and bop the boxing PT right on the nose
