Free range eggs??

Hello guys is there any health benefits from eating free range eggs over caged hen eggs as i buy alot of these but they are pretty expensive! just wondering if they are worth the extra cost?

Cheers

They tend to be of 'higher quality', as they have had different feedings for the animals.

Do a google image search for battery hens. You'll be more than happy to pay the extra then.

I also believe that the omega 3 content will be better in some free range eggs.

and then google how "free" range hens live and you will hopefully stop eating those as well

(basically similar conditions than broiler hens, though a bit higher density due to multiple layers)

    but i'll shut up!

If you are choosing the 'free range' option then do your research to ensure you are getting genuinely free range eggs not some bastardised version that just scrapes round the red tape

As for the eggs...the price didfference isn't all that great anyway...

Dont know if it matters at all after I did a quick google search on "free range cruel eggs"

Seems there is a very loose definition on 'free-range'.

I would say if you really do care then check out the farm where they are laid!

    Agreed!!!!

I think the terms organic and free range are being used very loosly these days. Particulary by large chain supermarkets looking to cash in on consume ignorance!

    Agree with the above

What you want are eggs where the hens roam round the farm yard and are fed quality grain as well as bugs and such like
