    tere tulemas to MT mate.

two ways, the olympic lifter style of holding the bar like you would have just cleaned it and then the other style where the bar "rests" on your shoulders, very deep, pretty much against your throat and you hold your arms crossed on the bar for extra stability. Personally i do the latter.

same as vegan lifter says, elbows sit out directly infront of you, the front delt kinda holds the bar in place, i just rest my finger tips on the top of the bar for comfort.. personslly i dont like the other grip, too much stress on my wrists..
this is just about my favourite excercise of all time...

    :)

Im gonna try both grips, ive always been doing back squats. With the Front Squat ive always felt like the bar's gonna fall down in front me cos the grip and position seem to weak.

i found a picture of olympic style where i can acctually see the hand placement.

So when you guys who use Crossed Grip do you just rest your fingers on top of the bar or loop your fingers underneath as well?

    Cheers

Fingers just rest on top of my arms. Fingers don't really do anything to hold on to the bar - delts and forearms keep the bar in position.

Here are some alternative ways for front-squat grip: http://www.weighttrainersunited.com/frontsquathold.html

Personally I use the one in the last pic, with the straps. I hate the pressure on my wrists from the other grips.

I always use palms resting on the bar and pressing into my shoulders for extra support.

Just remember when you are coming out of the bottom of the squat to lead with your elbows i.e don't let them drop or your head will drop, your back will bend and your ar*e will rise.

    Thanks MB :-)

I find oly style a little awkward, I dont feel flexible enough - but might be because i'm just not used to it.

Nice little tip there bencher, i'll bear that in mind. Presumably I can apply this with arms folded over the bar also.

You can indeed apply it when you have your arms folded.
