Front squat questions that need to be answered.

Never done front squats have some questions:

1) do I place the bar on my clavicle(collar bone) if not, where?

2) where do I place my hands, inside my delts on my clavicle crossed?

3) last question sounds silly but should I have my hands open or closed fists?

Bar should rest on delts not the bone, I believe.

Immaterial, really. The bar is supported by the upward angle of your arms, not your hands.

Olympic style involves bending your wrists backward and pressing fingers against the bar (which I find impossible).

Or there's the BBing style with crossed arms and fingers resting on bar.

    Pardon?

dosnt matter, but its a loose grip if any, the hands dont really lock the weight in place if thats what you are getting at.

Best to start light and learn the teqnique with these

You want the bar to sit on the upper pecs in that little gap in between your front delts and chest almost touching your throat.,if you have the bar sitting on the delts themselves you will find the bar wants to roll and your shoulders will tire very quickly.

If you have the bar in that little gap it will sit there easily and you only need to lightly keep hold of the bar.

If you don't have much mass in the delts and upper pecs then you may find it to uncomfortable as the bar will rub against your collar bone.

If you get the bar placement right it is pretty comfortable.

    QUARANTINE

Try this, lift your arm up as if holding a bar for front squat, run your fingers over your front delt towards your chest, you have a dip, groove were the front delt ends and upper pecs/traps start, assuming you have some development in your delts the bar should sit nicely in this dip without moving, keep elbows high.

You can see in this pic what i mean

I just ram my throat right in on it..... and grip pretty much as the photo above. I always feel very solid with it, even been close to a 'good morning' without losing the bar LOL

Oh.... and it is safe to assume QUARANTINE has 'some development [on his] delts' LOL (how's things mate)

Thanks DV, not bad mate, training exclusively on free weights at the mo but front squats just aint working, think the big reason is that im trying to load the bar up too much!
