Get back in shape after accident

Hi All,

I'm in need of some random advice.

I had an Road Traffic Accident about 2months ago. Was injured quite badly so I've been at home since. I have put on some weight during this time which I am desperate to lose now and get back into shape.

Before the accident, I was a generally slim-ish in build. I was relatively fit, but not at the levels I used to be when I was younger.
The doctors have given me the all clear to resume normal life now. I can't lift anything heavy for a few weeks yet so weights is out of the question, so I was thinking starting with a light jog/running exercise.

My aim/goals are:
Getting Fit - General Fitness and stamina
Lose Weight - Tummy fat and general slimming down

My questions are:
Do you think this is a good/simple exercise to start with?
If not, what are the alternatives?
Is there a programme/structure I should follow in order to achieve my goals to the maximum?

Or am I just overthinking this and I should just shut up and run! :-)

Please advise fitness geeks!

You should just get out there.  You can start running like you want.  Do push ups, and pull ups if you can.  Clean your diet up and don't worry about all those fancy plans - it's about moving and using the muscles.
