Plans for 2019?

Hey buddy, happy new year!!

At the moment I'm suffering with a bad back, spondylolisthesis, all im trying to do now is try not to be in pain, used to enjoy running but it makes me suffer so badly I've had to give it up.

Trying to watch YouTube vids to find something to make it better, pretty gutted but trying to stay positive!!

Yeah pain free is a good goal and my primary one right now lol.

You don't have any extra weight from what I remember but just be sure you don't pile on any with all this feeding as that will aggravate any back condition.

When ever I've trained jiu jitsu my backs always been good, maybe time to go back??? Can't be bothered being in pain every minute of every day, the recent study connecting testosterone and ibuprofen means I won't take them or any other anti inflammatory meds.

Hopefully a better diet and a bit of weight loss will see an improvement :/

Your back giving you issues as well?

My issues stem from a herniated disc mate. Nothing I can do there other than avoid certain exercises and just give it time.

What was the deal with test and ibuprofen?

Similar to myself then pal, study showed 23% decrease in testosterone over a pretty short period of time, can't remember how long, I've always struggled test wise and never been shy of throwing pills down the trap for pain so doing my best to stay away from now on....

If you don't mind me saying mate your sessions do seem a little on the short side? What is your aim again?

No problem at all mate, tbh at the moment I'm just trying to keep the lard down and maintain or add a bit of muscle, I'm really struggling with a bad back so may have to knock lifting weights on the head. Using the mentally of the likes of Lee Haney who I think it was that said stimulate the muscle dont annihilate the muscle, I don't enjoy it in the gym tbh and can't wait to get out lol

Probably time to change it up then mate!

Lots of other ways to get fit and strong. What about stuff like crossfit etc? Still a strength component, but gets you fit and in good shape.

Jiu jitsu is the other option mate, I herniated 2 discs in my neck which is why I gave it up after around 4-5 years. I have 3 kids which made being committed to the training hard and very selfish, especially when training for a tournament. The weight training/swimming now is the easiest as I can choose what time of day I can go to the gym (usually when I've dropped them off at school) I also work away from home which isn't ideal but we do have a gym, I'm keeping track of things that aggravate my back on here, almost everything I used to do make me suffer, running, burpees, boxing... The list goes on, anything with any type of impact just isn't worth it.

I'm still going to train with a Dorian Yates/Mike Mentzer type routine, I like the strictness of Ben Pacman who I listen and watch a fair bit, I'll keep grafting away and hopefully find ways to keep the back ache away..

If I couldn't train due to the back I would seriously take up swimming a few times per week.

Maintains a bit of strength and those serious swimmers have very good physiques.
