Gift ideas for the lady

Only met her a month ago so don't want to go mental gift wise. It's her birthday in a couple of weeks but she will be away in India for 6 weeks foe her PHD.

Wanting to get her something but not sure what? Something nice but that would come in handy for her trip?

Bit stuck.

I am useless at choosing gifts for girls. I have always found perfume and taking her out for a meal a good bet. However, if you want to get her something for India, I really am stuck, a backpack? lol.

Buy her a photo album so she can save all her memories, place a few inside of yourself too.

Possibly a writing pad set and a diary too.

Nothing quite says "I care" like paying for her Malaria inoculations.

Widemouth Nalgene bottle, just can stick boiling water in it the night before let the thing cool and then carry around with her during the day or just stick natural mineral plastic bottled water in it and then carry it around.  The advantage is that it will never melt and is BPA free.  Inexpensive and I'm sure she will use quite a bit.

A copy of "Gone In 60 Seconds" would be more appropriate given our first couple of sexual encounters.

    Cheers for the replies lads.

How about a gift of money she can spend whilst she is over there..from the travel agency..ya know, not a large amount, enough for coffee and lunch or something like that.....or I know this sounds weird...but some water tablet purifiers...they come in handy for countries like that, and depending on where she is going she may find them handy...

Also...someone gave me one of those towels from the camping shops that fold up really really tiny but are quite big, so if she decided to just go off for a swim suddenly, she has a towel that just fits in the back pack....

I know they're not great ideas prolly, but when I went away for a bit, stuff like that I was praying for!...and used a lot when I actually got them....

If she is doing it posh stylie and going to a hotel, you could give her some ready stamped enevelopes so she can post letters home without having to think about where to get stamps from?.....or is that even stooopideer?...

Card and a nice bouquet of flowers, she will love it. Probably.

Shes doing a PHD which means shes pretty smart. Id go with a book of some kind mate, women love books plus she can read it on the plane or beach...where ever.

If you want to be really cheesy, stuff a flower on a page somewhere, so when she gets to page say 140 half way through her holiday, you come back fresh as a daisy in her head and stops her shagging the locals :D
