    As far as I can see the only proper reason to where gloves is to protect your hands- calluses, etc.

    A lot of people seem to buy them as soon as they start lifting, just cos other people have them. They probably think it improves your grip, but it actually weakens it considerably.

    So no, I don't use them.

    For the girlfriend, yes. Though I still managed to rip a large hole in my hand through the gloves somehow

    Never used to wear them, but been using gloves for the last year now. I wouldn't lift without them now. I used to rip my hands to bits, but now they are fine. Plus they give me better grip when my palms get a bit sweaty.

    Only when I use my custom made DB that have knurling on it that can rip your hands to the bone before you even put weight on them..... but otherwise a definite and resounding NO
