GoFundMe

I asked James if I was allowed to post this and he's said ok so here goes..

Ok so first off I want to say that as a very proud person I don't feel great about this post or comfortable with the idea in general but I'm running out of ideas..

I am a keen and aspiring music producer and DJ. I've been fortunate enough to play at some great clubs in London and also made music people have deemed good enough to release on their record labels.

So far, so good.

However last year I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and Fibromyalgia, ended up taking about 6 months off work and living on benefits of approx £650 per month (living in London my rent alone was more than that each month!!). I exhausted all my lines of credit, family and friends during this time. I cut off spending on anything except the essentials and as such am now in a position where I am going to have to sell my music equipment as I am in arrears on payments.

Which brings me to GoFundMe... a friend suggested I try and set up a page that asked people for funding and after thinking about it I thought why not, I've only got my dignity to lose and I'd rather lose that than my music equipment. My page is www.gofundme.com/MSmusic and if any of you care and want to help then it will be greatly appreciated.

Basing this on you being genuine.
Done, donation made and I truly wish you the best of luck
It takes a lot to ask for help. I am looking into asking a few friends for help (non financial) at the moment, due to my wife's condition. It isn't easy.

Hope everything works out and stay positive JimJim

    Jim,

Have you thought of selling shares in yourself?

What I mean is you may have more chance raising money if you offer a return to anyone that invests in you based on you becoming a success in the music industry..

No I hadn't thought of that Rob.. good idea thanks :)

Maybe something like if you donate £100 you get a 10% of any royalties for the next 5 years. £500+ gets you 20% for the next 5 years.

I've also decided that I will donate 50% of all donations to the MS Society (http://www.mssociety.org.uk/)  as they have helped me greatly in the last year..

Those that have already donated your money will also be split 50/50 between MS Society and my fund

RobW, I have never heard of that concept.
