Going catabolic?!

Hey guys

Not sure if this is the right forum.

How long does it take until we go catabolic. I have two scoops of whey 45 minutes before working out. I do heavy sets with low repetitions and it is now taking me 1.30 to complete my routine.

Am I at danger of going catabolic?

Cheers

I dont think your going to 'lose' muscle unless you actively try to do so through either not training a muscle so it atrophies or overtraining with little food

Who the hell knows? Any answers are huge speculation and worthless. Training itself is highly 'catabolic'. Just keep it simply and crack on. The use of the word catabolic is probably ill used too.

ps this is probably the wrong forum.

It may well happen, I don't know.

Wouldn't regard it as being in trouble though.

Its information that the majority of us don't need to know.

    Why not reply?

It's an open forum and that is my point of view on the subject you have asked about.

Others may well think in a different way, whats that got to do with anything.

one of many mistakes of mine was over analysing catolic states.... thinking oh no i havent ate protein in the last 3 hours, something needs to go in my mouth otherwise ill shrink

basically without food your body burns fat for energy and the brain burns blod glucose which comes from ffod and eventually from glycogen
    Intense exercise relies on glycogen,

a one hour workout of heavy deads and squats wont even empty half of full glycogen stores

catabolism will eventually happen when glucose is needed by the brain and body and no glycogen is left in the liver or muscles and you havent ate carbs in a while

    depends what youre doing.

will you be doing anything physically demanding during the period or will you be stuck in the office for the day?

cant really say unless we know what environment youre in.

takes days and weeks to get muscular atrophy (muscle catabolism)

your body is in anabolic and catabolic states all the time during the course of the day

if youre shrinking eat more, if youre gaining, youre fine

    any more questions?

Completely agree,i have never heard of going catabolic over the course of a few hrs,you might think you are just because your hungry, but as above it takes days before going into a catabolic state.

If you dont want to go catabolic, the best way to do things would be to exercise for around 45 minutes, fuelling your workouts pre and post workout, getting plenty of rest and sleep and eating well.

If i workout for 90 mins or so,no matter how well i eat and rest after, i go catabolic days later.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.

I eat every few hours, im just one of the types thats always hungry anyway. Cant see you losing mass if you dont eat for a few hours TBH. Though i cant imagine it ever helping growth if you arent eating regularly.

latelly I am always hungry and had to adjust my diet

the weight is the same but body far is going and going and going

the catabolic thing comes about some people will say that they prefer to workout 5 days a week less then one hour each time then three times a week fot two hours to avoid going catabolic
