Good PDA Phone...zoidberg & co?

Could someone recommend a good phone which is also a pda?

I don't mean a blackberry, I just mean something like a Sony Ericcson.

    Depends what you really need

For fast web browsing , but a nice compact form factor , the SPV m3100 / mda Vario II / HTC tytn is good

If email & browsing is your main concern , and you can live without a camera , then the Nokia E61 is pretty good (the e61i is near identical too , with the additon of a camera

The Nokia N95 is more of a smartphone than a PDA , but you get the same high speed data as mentioned in the first phone I mentioned - very capable device , but editing douments et would be easier on the other two

And the Daddy of them all at the moment - the HTC Advantage / MDA Ameo (I am ponering one of these as we speak ! )

With High speed Data (1.2mb ) 8GB hard drive etc

Can't see the iPhone being here until much before Xmas - but the Nokia e90 may be - which will be the latest in a line of clamshell PDA devices - this will feature the same OS as most top end nokias , but with a widescreen display

What do you want to do with it ?

lol, i was going to upgrade to the ameo until i saw the size of it, the exec is big as it is, anything bigger is abit lol

one coming out in the Q3or4 is the HTC shifter....although IIRC it's more of a UMPC... not a PPC.

I've got an O2 Exec which i can highly recommend!

    do SE make PDAs?

    Regards,

Dr.Z, I guess I must be looking for more of a smartphone.

I'm hooked to a computer all day anyway, so I don't need things like email etc.

Just things like calendar, tasks, diet, workout etc. would be handy.
I have an iPaq already which I use to do this, but it starts to be a bit of a pain lugging so much crap around with me, would be handy to have it all in 1 device.

    Any suggestions?

Sorry mate , I missed your post somehow

Yes , sounds like a smartphone would do you

If you need it to be Sony Erriccson , then an m600i or a w950i would be good (no camera though) or if you do want a camera , then a p990i would be the way to go

Most top end nokias as S60 smartphones - E65 , N95 - in fact most of em !

Or there are the windows smartphones - there is one that is an ABSOLUTE BARGAIN but it is a funny shape -

    Here http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/viewProduct.do?productId=B34EEB4F-D4CA-4AF6-B653-0A2B27A04313

Ignore the TV bit (if you want to ! ) but £49 for a windows smartphone is UBELIEVABLE

(ok so its a funny shape ! ) - but it is also a DAB radio too ,and the TV features are there if you want em

What do you use yours for Dr Z?

All kinds of stuff , web browsing while out and about , email , Sat nav , showing photos to people , mobile TV (big brother, obviously ) - Transporting documents / files , games , the odd MP3 or MP4

If I am away from home I use it as an HSDPA modem for my Macbook

Having the internet in your pocket can be surprisingly handy - for example , when in Curry's , and you want to compare prices with everyone else - you can just pull out you PDA and look who has the best price ...and it is handy for settling disputes with your mates over trivial facts as well

Oh ,and I make the occasional phone call

    Mines wasted.

I use it for Tom Tom and a phone.
I make the occasional note with the pen but thats it... saying that mines a a miniXDA so not too cumbersome in the pocket so I suppose it's worth ot even if just for the screen.
