Greatest World's Strongest Man?

Who was it, i don't know how you personally define greatest but however you do, who is it?

I know there have been 14 but i only have room for 12, so i have not included two - Jon Pall Sigmarsson 4 and Ted Van Der Parre 1, If you want to vote for them then post a message and i will manually add a line which i will update with a vote count.

If you don't know who you think was greatest then vote for the one you like best and let us know why.

The number to the right of the name is the number of times they won.

I voted for Reinhoudt as he was an all round hard working strength hero, who reached the pinacle of both strongman and powerlifting and who had the capacity to win WSM several times had he had the chance. He is also by all accounts one of the nicest, humblest men on earth.

I used to work with a bloke whose local bobby was Geoff Capes, he said Geoff was a grumpy miserable sod but no one ever told him...wonder why!

Sorry if I'm going off topic but have to address an above post..

Maradona IS the greatest footballer of all time, no question!! Nobody before or since could do what he could do. He also did it at the top level. Much of Pele 1000+ goals came in exhibition games Santos palyed aound the world for money. Ronaldo is also currnetly trying to get some of Peles goals for the national team recinded because they took place during exhibition games (he won't succeed though as it seems Pele is beyond reproach). I think he scored 120 goals in one season in the Sao Paulo championship, extemrely impressive but much of the Sao Paulo championship teams were amateur and still are, so IMO the achievement is somewhat smaller than otherwiase would seem on face value. Brazilian championship football is not a great yard stick to judge a players ability. Argenitian domestic football is much stronger than Brazilian league football. If you don't believe me, just look at the Copa Libertadores. Finally Pele was surrounded by great players when he played for Brazil, Maradona never had such luxuries, even when he was at Napoli. Maradona scored over 300 goals in just over 600 games, phenomenal considering he was'nt even a striker and they all game against teams that were competitive.

    back on topic...

Pudzianowski is probably the most impressive WSM I have ever seen. I'm not saying that makes him best but it makes it had to overlook him. I also can't see whay JPS was left out of the list. IMO it is between him and Pudzianowski. As far as training goes, so what if pudzianowski does event training and JPS did'nt. Training methods evolve. Or would you prefer if they did'nt?

er..I say! as I read it nobody has been "left out" of the list, its just that there are only 12 catergories available for polling so two people have to be added manually, looks quite straightforward to me[:p]

I bet it is impressive to see stumpy squat!

What comps are you thinking of entering?

Would you mind giving us all some insight into how you train?

    cheers!

The best strongman of all time is and always will be Bill Kazmaier. He was and still is a true all round athlete as well as a strongman.

On the list given imo the guys who are true contenders for the title would be:
    Bill Kazmaier 3 - Immense
Geoff Capes 2 - Also Immense and still strong!
Magnus Ver Magnusson 4 - Magnus was probably screwed out of one or two titles by dodgy time keeping.
Jouko Ahola 2 - Very strong and very athletic, if he really came back he would win.
    Add in Jon Pall Sigmursson

Mariusz can be great but WSM no longer crowns the worlds strongest man. Far too little static strength involved but TV dictates all of this.
