Gymbabeliz 4 days til British..powered by Muscle Finesse

Contest prep time again.....i started 6 weeks ago at 9 st 13 1/2 (63.5kg) (i'm 5'1). To get an idea of how i looked at that weight, my off season pics are in the gallery on my website www.lizkinsella.co.uk

I'm going to get down to around 8 1/2 stone (55kg) which is a couple of kg less than I was at the finals last year (again for comparison see on my website)

I'll come in a bit lighter because although I won the physique round of the competition, I was told I was a little on the muscular side for fitness, and now with the 20% less muscular trend, I dont want to leave it open to me being penalised. Also, I am more comfortable personally being a bit lighter.

My diet , first 2 weeks i stayed on moderate carbs all week (100-150g), with a high day on the sunday. Second two weeks i added in 2 low days (50g carbs). At 12 weeks out, i added in another low day so im was cycling them based on what type of workout/ when im working out that day.

After each higher carb day my weight has typically gone up by a couple of pounds, then dropped back down again. I have been experimenting with different types of high days - I have tried clean refeeds, a huge cheat meal, moderate clean carbs with a couple of cheat items, chocolate ...and have had the same result with each ..the amount of weight gain the following day has varied slightly, but the overall result week by week has been a consistent 1 1/2 lb loss.

Well , I now have just under 10 weeks to go and am weighing in at 9 st 4 at present (59kg) so i have already lost 9 1/2 lbs

I've adjusted my diet to tighten things up. Got rid of a seed mix which was topping up my kcals before. Restricting the amount of cabbage to 200g per meal rather than unlimited, as I realised i was taking in quite a few extra carbs with that. Cycling on an 8 day rotation - 3 days low (50g) 1 day medium (125g) 3 days low (50g), one day high (approx 210g). I have been ummming and ahhing about the superhigh day still, ( based on my non-conclusive results over the past 6 weeks)..but i have decided to kick it off mainly with clean carbs.

So monday was the first high day...i had muesli instead of oats (RAISINS!!!) , sweet potatoes and 1 cheat item. My cheat item was one of those yoghurt coated apricot and almond snack cereal bars, omg i love them!!!!!! I kept my fats right down low that day and protein dropped a bit too.

Tuesday morning I had put on a pound or so, as expected. I'll weigh in again friday.

Tuesday and today have been low days and I have started to get that slightly dizzy dieting feeling, bit slow and sluggish moving about.

I think thats the diet stuff pretty much up to date.

    Training stuff.

I train a 4 day split over a 5 day training week. That is, i train tues, wed, fri, sat and sun , and my split is chest, legs, back/tris. delts/bis. So each part gets worked every 5 or 6 days.

I'm going to gymnastics on average a couple of times a week to practise my routine. I picked up my first rehearsal injury 4 weeks ago with a nice bang to the knee, and lots of fluid on the knee, which now i can almost bend fully again with the help of some pharmaceuticals (long live diclofenac!)

cardio im cycling to and from work and mix it up with other CV stuff at the gym.

aaah my fave journal is back! The link doesnt work liz so you may need to edit or re-post it.....its real good to know the weight loss is happening for you.

Im sure you gonna knock em dead and come home with another fat trophy....do you know how many other ppl are in your class yet? Or do ppl enter right up to last minute?

Also...can you share you protein intake etc with us?

theres no way im sharing any of my protein! But i can tell you how much im taking in.

low carb days 170g, moderate carb days 150g, high carb days 130.

Theres room to cut that down on the low carb days if i need to speed things up.

oh and there are still a few qualifiers to go so cant say how many in class.

nick its not about trophies i just want to diet and compete cos its what i do...you cant ever say what will happen

You will be in shape for the contest easy. Looking real good.

Hemel is a sh*t hole though, no decent clubs at all (id better not say anything about the women) Lots of chavs to say the least.

I have to agree with BritBB on this one...

Liz, did you train over at Forest Gym much when Karen was prepping you? I go there once in a blue moon (when I am in the area and it's a training day); it's a really good gym.

have trained there on occasion, yeah i like it, its very like muscle mania in tilbury except a bit more cramped up. I really like the forest all round it so you can go for a walk for cardio after.

Yesterday was the 3rd low carb day and i actually felt a bit better by day 3 than i had on day 2. A bit lethargic in the day which makes me just slightly grouchy but nothing Diet Monsteresque yet

It wasnt supposed to be a weights day but i went in to do my biceps as my routine had got out of sync (which happens quite a lot!) Did barbell curl, preacher curl with dumbells, hammer curls.

At gymnastics practised my routine, its a very different kind of fitness to do that,( its 2 minutes of jumping about , press ups etc ) Im very well adapted to long slow distance training, cycling, anything aerobic, but this feels pretty much anaerobic for the whole 2 mins which is a killer ! When i first came up with the routine i couldnt do it all the way through without collapsing! I worked up from doing it walking through the actual moves, to doing it once properly and a few walk throughs...to twice properly etc ..then 3 times properly. When i have the stamina to do it easily (or learn to breathe maybe) i can try to make it actually look decent aswell ..

Well anyway last night one of the stuntgirls suggested that after each practise-through i sprint round the floor area 3 times..(.to build up the stamina ....so that doing just the routine seems easy without the sprint at the end) so i did that 3 times - OH MY GOD it was fun but it made me feel totally sick! definitely did NOT feel like a fitness girl.

Knee still swelling up but its useable , bit worried about what will happen when i run out of Diclofenac though, am i going to need it draining for the rest of my life!!!

Today is a medium carb day. i weighed in at 9 st 2 3/4...weighed myself 3 times to make sure it was right, went to the loo to try to get it down to 9 st 2....got back on the scales and it said 9 st 3 ..grrr..im taking the first reading!

Was a bit disappointed because i had lost a touch LESS weight than usual, inspite of dropping the carbs lower. is that telling me something?!

This is what my back is looking like, you can see stuff is starting to show but very squidgy round the edges
