    Yes, worth viewing.

Really good to see a more balanced approach from the media to the whole subject.

I think that the media tend to focus on the idiots that fail to do their research and abuse gear. It's the abuser's that get the bad rep and ultimately get the substances on the banned list.

Moving to General forum as this may interest non-users too, not for the promotion of steroids, but rather to help dispel some myths that still surround this subject.

    very good link.
    Thanks for that.

Mind you, I've read stuff on here that states that there are risks to the liver with certain types (DBOL being a noteable example) that are liver toxic. Yet this was brushed aside somewhat, leaving the impression that steroids were 100% safe.

When talking about side effects, acne and hairloss were mentioned but not shrinking testicles or gyno?

... that said, I know loads of guys on gear, who have been for years and it reflects the basics of what that was saying. It makes me think that maybe in a few years I might do some.

When they refer to YOUNG MALES. I'd like to know what that refers to.
    I'm 21. am i 'safe?'

very good post, finally some light shed on the truth. too bad it wasn't publicly done on CNN/BBC or whatnot, bot just HBO.

By the way, what age do they mean by 'young males'? Is it safe to use steroids at 18, or more like 21-22? Just curious.

edit: ack, sorry, didn't see that post come up before I posted my own query. thanks for the answer.

Many to consider the toxicity to be exagerrated somewhat. They are harder, that is known, but there are also studies out there showing the damage to not be that great.... there are even isolated cases showing very high, long term doses of compounds considered highly toxic, to have caused next to no damage at all.

Better safe than sorry tho I say

    Its not that simple.

By 'young males' they are specifically referring to males whose bone structure growth potential may be adversely affected by 'messing with hormones'. This is due to the possiblility of the closure of growth plates due to steroid use.

So, it would not be wise at all for young males to use anabolics at all until at least their growth plates have closed naturally, which could be anywhere between 20-23 give or take.

There are many other 'common sense' reasons why young men shouldn't be using such as waiving the availability of natural gains. Most will make very good progress at this time of their lives with high levels of natural testosterone anyway - without even thinking about the need for steroids.
