HELP with program please

Hi

I am a rlative newbie have been doing weights for only 3 months. Got a personal trainer at the gym to show me what to do and how o do the exercises correctly but am having a problem.

I am beginning to feel the rsults of my hard work in that I can feel the muscles underneath the layer of fat but can't seem to lose that layer of fat so that i can visibly see the muscle, does anyone here know what i can do to reduce my 'fat'. For example when i crunch my abs there is a fab set of rock hard muscles under there but I have a bellythat hides them !

Just to fill you in on some info about my regime which i know is not brilliant (it's a time issue with me)

Twice a week I do a weights program with my trainer day 1 we do upper body day 2 we do lower body once a week i do cardio work in the gym 1 hr. also twice a week i do a 25 min walk.

I follow the Weight watchers eating plan and currently weigh 156 lbs, down from 196 lbs. I would really appreciate any help given.

Its just gonna take time, you've probably not really built much muscle mass, instead the muscle you have now has a higher resting tone/tension thats why you are more aware of it.

What kind of cardio do you do? Has your PT given you diet guidelines? If you do leg extensions with your trainer get a new one.

The problem with WW, although it has had many successes is that it will restrict how much protein you can eat as all protein is allocated 'points'. You need protein to make sure your muscles can recover and grow from the training. If you need to go to any of these sort of diet clubs to lose weight due to the peer encouragement then I would suggest Slimming World would be much better for you...follow the red days because you can eat all the protein you want and still have a good limited selection of carbs and of course plenty veggies. Fruit is also free, whereas on WW these also count as points. I do believe it is also less expensive to go the SW (£3.95 per session).

LOL, let me explain! Basically a bodybuilder will only advocate the main exercises for legs as being squats, stiff leg dead lifts and deadlifts (performed on a back day). They do not see any point in doing leg extensions (don't tell them that I do them though of course after my squats). So basically what they are joking about is that if you're trainer is only giving you leg extensions as a prime exercise for the legs then the routine is not good and you need a better trainer! Hope that's clear

I get it now, yes we used to do leg extensions in the beginning but now we only do leg presses and squats followed by more squats holding free weights (yuck!!!) oh and we do these hamstring curl things on a machine that i hate cos they hurt like hell. I don't know the proper names for these things sorry.

So I have to do more cardio, i will try and up it to 4 hrs per week with some running although i hate running as it aggrivates my knee joint, but i will persevere.

I have noticed that the EC i am taking is starting to have much less effect now too, in the beginning it took away my appetite totally now it doesn't seem to do that for more than 30 mins or so, i take 25mg ephedrine and 200mg caffeine twice a day but i figure i'm goona have to up it to 3x a day.

thanks for all your help folks :)

in addition to squats, deadlifts, or SLDL's. not instead of. and it is because of that, i would rather focus my efforts on the things that matter most, than the things that don't.
squats and deadlifts are all you need if you do them properly.
