HIIT pre weights?

A good idea to do 30 min HIIT pre weights? e.g.

10 min warm-up

40 sec rest + 20 sec sprint x 6

10 min cool-ff

and then the weights session.

Or should I do HIIT after weights?

I am doing a lean(ish) bulk ATM.

I normally have 40g of whey and water and some porridge between my hiit and weights session - I can quite remember the reason...but there is one.

Best done after weights so as not to diminish the muscles precious glycogen stores!

Nothing is worth more than this day...

Depends on what you want to focus on.

I do exactly what you describe on a lot of workouts - 20/30 mins HIIT followed by weights.

If you're on a bulk, do weights first, a cut, or you're just trying to maintain / increase your athletisicm....then HIIT first imo.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably do HIIT and then weights because it's easier this way. I find that weights drain a lot of energy and I'm a little tired doing HIIT afterwards, whereas if I do HIIT first then I cool off with some stretching and reenergise to do weights.

If your doing HIIT properly there's no way you could do a heavy weights session afterwards. Damn i struggle to stand up afterwards

Not straight afterwards sure but I do it 4 times a week, with a decent feed, a shower and a 20 minute drive in between.

Thanks for all the replies. I tried doing HIIT and then weights yesterday. I think that for the first time in my life I did HIIT properly, and, like jayrown said, I felt extremely tired afterwards. I spent a long time stretching and getting my breath back afterwards, and found my strength really low.

So from now on I'll do HIIT after weights. It's the lesser of two evils I guess, plus you are a moderator so I trust your knowledge

    cheers,
    Mike
