Hangovers

What genuinely works for hangovers? Don't say hair of the dog because that's just delaying the inevitable. What has worked for you in the past and what has been your worst hangover?

I woke up this morning in the arms of a fecking wildebeest. I turned around and found that the bed was also occupied by a kebab shop worker. I do not know what happened and I do not want to know. I will never drink again.

Lots of water, a very big breakfast and Berocca tablets for rehydration.

Rest, water and food.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.

Seen as you've already had wildebeest and kebab I'd probably just have the water mate

Alka seltzer, ibuprofen, hydration tabs with water. They kill the pain.

If you need to function for any reason, work or whatever, then ephedrine and caffeine are helpful.

And if you can't remember it, it didn't happen, so I wouldn't worry about your bedfellows ;)

Nothing. Nothing works except waiting in pain for the next day.

The best thing to do imo is to go out and do something fun.

If you mope around in bed you feel **** until its bed time.

When I was snowboarding recently, average drink intake would be around a ltr of vodka. Bed at 3, up at 8 so only 5 hours sleep. 7 hours snowbarding. I did this six days in a row. Felt a little rough at first but being active helped. If I do a ltr of vody here in London I could easily not leave the sofa for an entire day and feel sh!t all day long.

I try to go out and do something fun these days. Cycle, go climbing, meet friends for lunch. Today I trained legs hungover lol. Felt terrible at first. Feeling amazing now.

A nap, good food, paracetomal and ibuprofen help power me through the fun activity.

Worst hangover ever was at a New years eve party when I was 16....8 pint's of lager in the pub , 4 cans of lager at the house then I found a liter bottle of White horse whiskey....Drank the lot , went for fag outside and passed out....Ambulance called  , stomach pumped and a night in hospital...Still made it home before 12pm New years day as my mom had cooked a roast turkey dinner which I ate then puked back up without them knowing...Felt like sh1t for days....Still didn't put me off booze for the next 20 years though lol.

The answer is two ibuprofen before bed time (do not wait until you wake up). Preferably with a pint of water.

I haven't had a headache from booze for over a year now since I discovered this technique. You still know you've been drinking the next day and can sometimes throw up, but the stinking, horrible, throbbing, headache completely disappears. If you haven't drunk enough to be sick then you wake up feeling amazing.

These days I even have ibuprofen before I go out and start getting pissed otherwise the headache can kick in at 3-4am anyway, especially if I'm doing a bit of head banging.

Best thing I've found for a hangover is a dip in a swimming pool. Don't know weather you get hydrated really well from being submersed in the water but it works a treat.

A liter of normal saline IV. With 8mg Zofran IV. Followed by thiamin IV. Once that is all in some greasy pub food with a bloody Mary and then a nap.

I'm lucky, I have never suffered from hangovers........but I drink 2 pints of water before bed, get up early, drink 2 more pints of water, eat plenty of food and get on with something.

I've always done this, it's a bit of a combination of the suggestions above so maybe that's why I just don't get hangovers?

I'm over 50 and it still works.

You forgot the fentanyl patch for the headache. Otherwise, good job.

Tried everything in the past and found nothing works for me apart from mopping around clock watching till bed time knowing after another nights sleep I'm going to be ok the following morning.

Don't over do it when drinking these days and ideally stop before that hangover stage as don't like the anxiety feeling the next day.

Always try for 2 paracetemol and two pints of water forced down before going to bed.  Helps quite a bit.
