Having a daughter?

How does a father cope with the moment when his daughter goes from being a little girl to a young woman who starts getting attention from men?

The other day I saw a right saucy minx walking up my street. She was dressed in knee length boots and a dress that left very little to the imagination. As I got closer I realised that she was the daughter of one of my neighbours who not that long ago was a sweet little girl who used to dress conservatively and play with her pet rabbits in her front garden.

Now she's a sexy young woman and if I were a father I would not cope well with that at all.

Worst nightmare! I have a son and im too old too have anymore. I think i would struggle. I know my dad did. Probably seen as quite backward thinking/ old fashioned but its because i know what depraved monsters we are ! I have a younger sister and i was way too protective and cracked a few skulls as a result.

My first two daughters ended up with right sh1t heads, and we had nothing but trouble for about five years. Lost endless nights sleep, and was always sorting out trouble day and night. Have four all told and thankfully they  all have decent fellas now. Still worry about them tho

have a daughter just hit 16... damn... however all the lads in the area know me and have seen me and know I dont brook much sh1t... esp as I posted the "rules for dating my daughter" on her fb page one even asked her to keep walking one day when she stopped to talk to him at the school bus stop... she asked why and he replied cos your dad is watching lmao... she asked him if he was seriously afraid of me and he said yeah cos hes huge flmao... I knew lifting would come in handy... however as a father I want her to be safe and happy, while enjoying life and all its pleasures to their full... as long as she is allowing it I cant tell her not to or take anyone to task for what they may get up to...

I have two daughters, and used to think about this all the time, but it's pointless stressing about the inevitable, so long as they attract the right kind of guy, then all is good, if they don't then he shall know about it.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.

I suspect that if a father takes these type of worries too far they can lose their daughter forever.

The thing is if you push your daughters too far they will rebel x2.  Just be there for them when they need you.

At the end of the day you can vet fellas all you want and scare off as many as you want but you just have to trust that you've raised them well enough to be able to avoid the arseholes.

I'm a father to twin girls, their still young,
But once they reach 12 years old they will be
Locked in their bedrooms and not allowed out
Until their 21.

My daughters 18. Never had a problem. She scares the sh*t out of me so spotty teenage boys don't stand a chance! :D

No biggie like, there are a lot worse things for you than using steroids, I mean I probably shouldn't have been smoking crack or getting into bar fights at your age TBH  - drab4

Re: 2014/12/13 14:06:06 (permalink)
Not a father myself, but I reckon this overprotective daddy mentality stems from that backwards thinking that female virginity means purity and when a woman has sex she's always somehow violated and forever unclean for it. Plus that unconscious desire most parents seem to have to not let go of their kids and always see them as children.

Boy or girl, eventually all grow up and a parent just has to accept that they're not children any more. All one can do is raise them as best as one can so they'll make good choices in life. In terms of sex, everyone does it and if you do all sorts of kinky stuff with your gf/wife, it's unrealistic to believe your children won't with their spouse, it's just a normal part of adult life.
