Help Required for my girlfriends Diet to lose weight

Hi all,

Please help in assisting with my girlfriends diet as she isnt eating anything real bad (until maybe the odd snack or meal at weekends..which will soon change)

Wake UP: 6:15

Breakfast: 7:30 - 50g Oat mixed with sultanas and low fat yogurt (replacing milk)

Mid Morning: 10:30 Apple

Cardio: 11:50 20mins mainly running although switching to cycling, cross training (all out cardio - blood, sweat and teers)

Lunch: 12:30 Chicken/salad in pitta bread plus low fat yogurt

Mid Afternoon: 2:30 Grapefruit

Snack 4:30 handfull of nuts (cashews)

Dinner: 6:00 varies usually chicken breast, potato, vegetables unknown quantities



usually cardio is over 4 times a week. Please can any advice on when and what cardio to do be given also.

    Not enough protein.

    when she wakes up she should have whey in water, then 30 mins later her normal breakfast.

    Mid morning snack needs protein, again she can use a shake if its more convenient and snack on nuts if hungry.

    Only 20 mins cardio? she needs to go for a bit longer imo how about 20 mins run and then 20 mins on the bike or stepper? Keep it varied cardio is mega boring so its great to mix it up.

    When is bedtime if her last meal is at 6pm? really need to have a small meal every 3hrs to speed up the metabolism.

    the rest of the diet looks ok to me although no doubt someone else will chip in here and give you a few more ideas.

    Is she into weight training/bodbyuilding? This will greatly affect her nutritional needs

    You haven't stated your gf's stats - height and weight etc? Also what are her goals - when you say 'lose weight' do you mean drop weight in general or lose fat etc.

    Weight - 67 kgs

    Goals are to lose body fat and tone up.

    Are protein shakes recommended for losing body fat?

    Also, what cardio is recommended during approx 45 mins sessions? And how often per week (at present 4 times)? And at the moment i'm doing some weights (advised by personal trainer) twice a week, is this frequency ok?

    In your circumstances I wouldn't bother with protein shakes
    Can you do early morning cardio before breakfast for 45 mins? Low intensity.
    Twice per week weights is fine as long as your routine is good

    Diet's not too bad, just make sure you vary choices. Keep us posted, there are other tricks we can incorporate should you have problems achieving your goals
