Help for starting out!

Hi, much appreciated if anyone can help....

It's been a long while since I've been on the weights so I need a few pointers. To be honest even when I was working out last time, I must have been something wrong because I didn't notice much muscle gain.

I want some muscle bulk on my arms and traps. When it comes to protein supplements drinks- is whey the best?

How often should I take a protein drink? I remember I used one ages ago and it said to do it daily, but would that be advisable, seen as it probably wouldn't be working out every day?  How do they really work?

Sorry if this message isn't so clear, I suppose it reflects my confusion!

Cheers for the quick reply Big Chew, I eat a lot of meat, poultry, pasta, fruit and veg, I think it's a fairly healthy diet all in all.

I've stopped the weights due to sheer frustration. I used to do about an hours worth of training, 2-3 times a week.

Day 1- dunbells, curls and bench press- all bicep, chest and tricep work
    Day2- rest
Day 3- dunbells either side, lifting with traps (don't know the actual name of the exercise!)
    Day 4- rest
Day5- working on chest, biceps and triceps again.
    Day 6- rest
    Day 7- rest

I ran every night as well.

id say you need a new routine mate thats not gona get you any bigger. your find loads of good advice in the routine section, and running every night is gona make it hard for you to gain muscle as well.

do you train at home or at a gym?

Hi Dan, cheers, I train at home. I've got a bench and some decent sized weights.
