Help with a routine !!

A big hello to everyone on this wicked site and thanks for any help in advance !! I have been going to the gym for just under a year and I am trying to bulk up a bit and gain some good muscle growth ( being a tall and thin bloke !) so i would appreciate some feedback on the below routine and some advice on the amount of reps and sets i should be aiming for.

Monday -
Bench Press
Pull ups
Incline Bench
One arm dumbell row
Dumbell fly
Lat. Pulldowns
Shrugs

Wednesday -
Squats
Leg curl
Leg Extension
Calf raises
Decline sit-up
Decline twisted situp

Friday -
Shoulder Press
Barbell row
Reverse Pec Deck
Dips (or close grip bench press)
Triceps Extension (skulls)
Hammer curl

IMO, that routine could do with a bit of simplification!

How many reps/sets are you doing for each excercise?

Well that is also what i need some help with !!! I picked up this routine from a website which didn't really gimme much help set-wise, but i have been doing 3x6 for most of them. Any advice on a simpler way would be most appreciated

    Thanks M8

Don't really like the looks of that proposed routine to be honest. Have a look at this routine: http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=57310

Might be just the thing you need. It's been working great for me and others.

How did your previous routine look?

Thanks M8, to be honest I have been considering using FrankieNY's 5x5 routine but i supposed that only a few exercises each day couldn't be as beneficial as a lot. The more I read the more i am starting to realise I am wrong !!

How has this routine been going for u ?

Have a look at my journal matey. Can't argue with a 20kg weight gain in 4 months and almost constant increases in strength!

I wish I had done a routine with this sort of approach ages ago.

try that routine Selecta. mb showed me that routine a week or so ago, and I used to do a similar routine as your original one (i tried to do every machine in the gym, thinking that I would get much stronger due to the higher work load). But after a week or so with the 5x5 (I do 4x6 atm) routine, i feel stronger, and by the end of the sets, KNOW I have had a good workout.
Just be careful of the squats and deadlifts, as if you do them wrong, you can seriously hurt your back. Start off slow, to get your back muscles used to the exercise, and make sure your form is perfect before going heavy. Goto this website to check out the correct way to do exercises, click on the top of the leg for most the squats and deads.

or check here, lots of links to the correct way to do the exercise

    hope this helps

That journal is great reading and inspirational too. I would be curious to hear a bit about your diet as although i am very slim i seem to have put on some bodyfat (especially around the waist) that detracts from the gains i feel i have made.

I will do the 5x5 tho! Tell me the extras u place on the end of each day (ie. farmers walk etc )are they essential?

    Thx again

I've put on some bodyfat too mate but I'm not really bothered at the moment.

The extras aren't essential and are a personal addition of mine. I am interesed in strengthening my grip so I added them.
