Hi Guys, what dya think of this routine?

I realised I can do deadlifts, I never realistically tried them because I have chronic back pain, but last night I could do them with light weights, so doing that is better than not doing them at all? I will work my way up, but am going to start on safe weights.

Every 3rd day

Day 1
-------

Deadlifts 3 x 8
Chins 3 sets of whatever I can manage till failure
DB rows 3 x 8
Incline bench
curls 3 x 8

Day 2
----------

Romanian deadlift 3 x 8
Chins 3 sets of whatever I can do fill failure
Flat bb bench
flies 1 x 8
military press 3 x 8
curls 3 x 8

Personally I think this testicle tenderness is due to my recent return to AM cardio. I do it naked on a recumbent bike and my gonads tend to flop about.

i dunno man, from what i was reading deadlifts primarily work the quadriceps and all that jazz?

i don't have the equipment to squat heavy weights, i don't have a rack so i can't really put it on my shoulders, or on my chest. I'd have to hold um with my hand. i can try though.

    bb squats 3 x 8
    db lunges 3 x 8
    calf raises 3x 8

    as well?

How do i brea =k down a three day split, does it have to be all in 7 days,m as usually it takes like, 2 days of rest before i feel fit enough to do another workout.

    thanks all.

    --

oh i guess id be better doing a traditional three day split? but i like doing benches and chins twice a week

Ppl i know are saying three day is the way to go?

I could do three day split but I have to manage it in between my sports, twice a week for two hours (has to be on weekdays). I don't know how to space everything out as ppl are telling me you need rest a day before and after etc?

Once uni term starts it will be 3-4 days a week of sport and having to do weight. will i really have to cut out the things i enjoy, sport is my main hobbie

    no its not?

I am going to workout in one hour, so I'm just going to do tt's routine slightly changed because I dont have equipment to do dips and bb rows hurt my back

    Deadlifts 3 x 8 repetitions
Incline 3 x 8 repetitions (instead of wide dips)
Bent Over BB row Standing (db rows instead)
    DB lunges 3 x 8 repetitions
    Standing bicep curl 3 x 8 repetitions

All you need to know about weight training:
-overhead rpess, squat, bench press, deadlift, row, chinup
    -do them hard and often
    -eat good food
    -have a good sleep

    Not too complicated.

What are you on about tt, why do you like putting me down so much? you are taking the mick outta me, i have made progress but because it isn't up to your standards you're always ridiculing me. you odn't know how well i'm doing, i havent' posted anything here.

I'm just asking whether this routine is adequate, and whether a 3 day split will be better?

I did day two earlier today, very tired after it, and the deadlifts ached my lower back, but I think I will keep going with it and see how i go

I don't think you see what he's getting at.

He isn't talking about your progress, but about your basic understanding of training. You asking if 3-a-week is better is a good example of this. It is like in his Hard Learner article, you're not looking at the big picture. Train twice a week, train 14 times a week, just follow the basics. Train hard. Eat right. Rest up.

    It's like you said here:
fix diet, routine, and motivation and quit making excuses.

What I gather from your posts (and I could be wrong) and I'm gussing what Steve is also talking about, is your view on training. You're looking at every little aspect, without really taking a look at the whole picture.

    Good luck

We'v been through all this many times before SO

People ahve recommended decent routines in the past, nothing has changed.

If you don't wish to include deadlifts for whatever reason, fine, leave them out. They are just another exercise.

There is little wrong with the routines people have suggested in the past, its just a case of you looking closer to home if you want the results, not asking for more advice off here.

I don't mean to come off nasty, just saying what I know to be the case. Even all them many months ago when you emailed me, the barrier was not the training but making time fore the training and diet.

Get a decent routine made up of compounds
    Stick to a decent 'diet'
    Give it time

    and you will get results.

Forget the deadlifts and your back issues, work around them.
Forget the metal juggerling balls (or whatever it was), stick to compounds.
Read up on training and nutrition.
You get out what you put in.
