Home Insurance legal protection

I`ve a feeling my wifes ex going to be making a another claim for contact with my step daughter, He has no interest in her and is only doing it to get at us as he gets legal aid and we dont and he knows it will cost us. He has done it before and suddenly dropped it once his legal aid dried up.

Does anyone know legal protection on home insurance will cover us if he does?

Very unlikely in my experience.  Usually the cover is limited to things like contractual and employment disputes, but check the wording in your policy to make sure.  If you find a policy that would give cover and apply, you'll probably have to declare the impending case on your application.

If you've used solicitors before, I suggest you go back to them and ask them if there is any special insurance available or other way in which your legal costs could be covered.

If contact can be arranged voluntarily, then there might not be any need to go to court - court should be a last resort.  Having an independent third party involved can often result in a satisfactory solution and there are specialist mediators who deal with exactly these kinds of cases - more information here.
