Home audio systems.

I was looking at a new sound system. Ideally i want something i can play CD's connect my ipod to and plays in more than one room. So for example the main unit would be in my living room but i could have speakers in my kithcen, dining room and bedroom etc... I was hoping wirelessl and the option to select speakers so there not all on if i dont want them on.
Obviously sound quality is important.
Any suggestions? Iv been googling but iv seen nothing thats made me look twice at it.
I had one in mind middle of last year that also had a built in hard drive but i cant find it or remember the model :(

Sonos is it? The wireless system you can mix and match, I heard it at a friends and it's very impressive.
Sure you can buy a cd changer and hook it up and connect ipod over WiFi

Not cheap but you just get the smaller ones for smaller rooms, I'd love them in my house so I can have it playing in all my rooms instead of really loud in one room

I have a wee goji bluetooth speaker that works very well. Cant help but wonder why you need to play cds. Can you not just rip them to iTunes and load them on to your iPod?

hahaha this is quality! The beats bluetooth speakers are compact yet have real good sound quality yet they are fairly expensive.

Beats pills are stupid money with average (at best) audio reproduction for a portable speaker.

There is some new kit on the market that does multi-room but SONOS is still the boss at the moment. Got a Play 1 to test it out and will be adding more kit when we move house in a few months time. Proper multi-room audio is going to be ace.

I have a bluetooth speaker i use for the gym, garden, holidays etc. I wanted something better. We normally end up with the music playing in the living room really loud so we can hear it else where. Im going to treat my self still deciding tho. Il let you know when i settle on.

I use Sonos at home, and in my opinion it's the way forward. You can use analogue input on the Sonos:Amp unit, and this input can be streamed to other Sonos units, so just have one of these with the CD player connected.

Also, in my opinion, the bigger speakers are not that great, better to have 2 Sonos:1 speakers set up as a stereo pair, much better for about the same price.

That's interesting......I was going to grab a Play 5 for the kitchen and either another play 1 or a Play 3 for upstairs.

As an obsessive metalhead I buy CDs regularly. Got big crates full of them. Always gonna sound better than a compressed MP3, and that MP3 will sound even worse through an iPod. Vinyl is the king of sound quality but I just can't go there until my kids have gone.

Back in the day I had separates but I caved in and got a mini system...got an Arcam Solo mini version, it's amazing. Then it's your choice how you hear the sound from it, can have it piped to other rooms or do as I did and have 4 foot floor standing speakers!
