How Important is Bobdybuilding to You?

I was just thinking about it tonight and as much as I love my fitness and weights, I would never put it before my family. I think some people take it a bit too seriously which is fair enough if you are a pro, there is no question that you have to be single minded but I have known some people to take it more seriously than their family or freinds and have ended up very lonely people.

An enjoyable pass time thats great for rlieving stress in my book. Seriousness comes in peaks and troughs - coming out of a trough at the moment. Wouldnt let it get in the way of my life within reason.

At the end of the day its a very serious hobby for me and thats how i think of it, yes i do go out of my way to make sure i get into the gym because i hate not going when i should, nothing for me beats the feeling of a good pump......apart from obvious pleasures . But thats where it ends, im not trying to make a livly hood from it, so family and friends are easily priority in my life, but in turn they all know that traing for me is very important, so its give and take from all sides really.

I agree mate. Even professional bodybuilders shouldn't have it as priority number one because family and friends come first. If some people believe building muscle is more important than their family then ok more power to them but they will probably end up on their own receiving no birthday cards etc.

Bodybuilding is everything to me, absolutely everything except for my family.

As far as im concerned bodybuilding is my life because ive only just turned 23 and through bodybuilding i have developed a 5 year plan of how i can make myself v successful doing something that is my passion.

Thats why im devastated i broke my hand and have to take another 3 weeks off

Without the dream of what i want to become (and feel i have been lucky enough to be blessed to fullfill that dream) then i am lost. I cant think of anything i could do or would enjoy doing to earn some decent money and not just struggle on by like i see others do. Ive worked real sh*thole racist pubs as barman and doorman at pubs n clubs and the people i see going in them scare me that if i dont succeed in doing what i have planned to do then ill just end up like they are, no better off and having to socialise with people like that in a racist pub all my friggin life...nah that aint gonna happen, no chance.

I would though stop bodybuilding for my family, but i think that if i stop or cant continue or something then it would break me, it would shatter everything i really want to achieve and ruin everything for me, for my family or loved one (well i dont have at the momemt though lol) id do it but it would break me completely, then again id sacrifice my own life for them anyway.

Bodybuilding is a tool that can make me who i want to be, right now it means almost everything to me, there are however things that would have to come first out of principle like family.

i know how you feel britbb, i often use the door as a wake up call to make me think i never want to end up like some of these fat middle aged twats out every weekend causing trouble. luckily for me the door is somin that is keeping me alive for now, have bigger things in the pipe line. then again if everything happening with my in the next year goes tits up, i wouldnt be that arsed about being on the doors for a good few years as i quite enjoy the life. your lucky britbb as your young, even if you become a pro at age 30, thats still a very good achievement and still quite young for a pro! would give you a good 10yrs+ on the stage as a pro. giving 7 years to achieve that.

Turning pro would be part of my dream, but its not what i mean in terms of making me successful.

Everything about my plan that ive made for myself eg finding a nice women from v wealthy family etc, mixing with the type of crowd i want to mix with etc, owning some nice possesions, living comfortably in nice house in nice area with nice family...basically everything a guy would want when say hes mid 30's and can just sit back and think 'thank fuk ive done this, now i can just relax and enjoy life'.

I have a plan to achieve that and it revolves around bodybuilding completely and the things bodybuilding can do for me. Without the ability to sculpt myself into what i want to look like and at the same time enhance my mind and intellect (because i believe bodybuilding also teaches one some v useful skills eg motivation, determination, lessons in life etc etc that are invaluable). I would be stuck in the same old sh*thole that i hate and not be able to break free.

As far as im concerned there is no friggin way im staying in this sh*thole for much longer and doing the same sh*t jobs, sh*t money, sh*t social life, sh*t people etc etc for much longer, bodybuilding is my ticket outa here, can give me ticket to usa aswell and a much better life.

Have to say it is a very serious hobby for me, but things like the missus, family, my closest mates, work and study come above it.

At the end of the day i'll never be a pro bodybuilder, even if it was to happen it would never make me as much mone as the career path i'm on will so even if i had the chance to turn pro i'd stick with what i'm doing

These days bodybuilding is just a hobby to pass the time and another means of keeping fit and trying to look the part for my job. I enjoy cardio much more though. Bodybuilding can turn some people into self centered assholes!..... as it did me once.

I love BB, really glad that i started.
BB wouldn't by far come in front of my family but unfortunitly i have lost a few friend since i started. Reason being not going out any more at the weekends getting drunk etc, so i don't see it as a major lose. For those friends i have lost by starting BB, i have gained twice as much BBing friends.

Bodybuilding is very important to me. It helps form my personality and taught me true dedication and motivation. It helps me through the hard times and gives me intense pleasure during the good. If I take a week of training I feel like a lazy slob. I don't want to live my life as a normal person, I want to live my life as a bodybuilder. Bodybuilding is my lifestyle and its something I love 24/7 whether its training, eating or posing etc.

It is a very addictive passtime and people often get consumed by the challenge and dedication of bodybuilding. I have made this mistake in the past but keep everything in life, my family, friends, girlfriend in perspective now.

To be honest quite important. Important enough to where Id sometimes cancel night outs because i would want to get my minimum of 8-9 hours sleep before the next day, the point where i go out and not drink no more than a vodka and redbull the whole night in a club, the point where im at pizza hut buffet, have half a slice of pizza and 2 bowls of salad just to keep the gf company while she scoffs her face. also given up all takeaways, drinking alcohol on a regular basis and sleeping 4-6 hours a day even if i had the choice to sleep longer.

bodybuilding is important to me, why else would i also not go out so that i have money to spend on supps. its all good though, because my friends understand and its not like weve grown apart or anything. i think once things start to get apart like friendships or relationships then you need to take a step back and realise that that will always be more important than bb, unless of course, you are doing it professionally.

Never used to be, now more important to me than most things.

Friends, family, day job, money etc come first ... but BBing is high up there. Still socialise etc, but even given up drinking. Loving looking and feeling good

If you told me to change my diet or stop gymming I'd cry like a little girl

From my diet and drinking you wouldn't think it was important to me at all , but in fact it really is , which is why I get so frustrated with my lack of self discipline
