How can you create a strength routine n bodybuild

Hi how can you combine strongman exercises in with bodybuilding? I need a routine that will enable me to get very strong although I want to keep the bodybuilding shape. I dont want to look like normal big powerlifters.

The modern breed of powerlifters like Pudzinowski seem to be very athlehtic and use alot of bodybuilding in their workouts.

What would I have to do. Would I need to use mass compound exercises, and then add in shapers etc.

Please help.

If anyone could come up with an example routine that would be better. I would like to combine strength with looks.

Thanks

You think? Or maybe he's just doing pure strength training but has a low bf% 'cos he's a strongman...

Yes you could be right. But by looking at his training example on his site. He seems to do Quite alot of ab work, barbell curls, leg and ham extensions, cable pulls for back. etc etc. It seems like hes combining the two.

You can combine powerlifting, bodybuilding, and strongman principles and workouts together, but like anything in life, if you try to focus on too many things you won't be as good at them as if you focused on just one.

If you look at powerlifters in weight classes other than the heaviest ones, you'll see that most of them are very muscular and defined. The most famous ones, the ones you see on T.V. and in ads, are the ones that lift the most weight - the ones that don't have to control their bodyweight or their diet.

He has a great build that is even more accentuated by a low bodyfat level and incredible genetics. A very important factor to remember, however, is that he most likely "chemically assisted".

There's no such thing as shaping exercises. How defined you are depends almost everything to do with your diet and cardio and very little to do with your set and rep scheme.

To accomplish what you want to achieve, the best thing you can do is lift heavy and hard, something like a 5x5 routine, and eat a very clean diet combined with a fair amount of cardio.

genetics must play a large part, i had a look on the website and apparently he was benching some ridiculous weight from an early age. The routine he is on would be overtraining for most people to unless the website is lying

In your routine there frankie you havnt got any traps work? Is this intentional? Or are your traps getting worked on other exercises.

What about barbell upright rows for shoulders as well?

Also do you have to do every exercise in that routine. You have

Barbell Curls, then Hammers, Close Chins.

Do i do all of them or one or the other.

    Thanks

Very intentional. Your traps get hit plenty with deadlifts and rows for now. Think of it this way. When you're building a house, do you worry about the bathroom fixtures first or do you worry about the foundation?

Upright rows are absolutely one of the worst exercises for shoulders because they stress your shoulders in an unnatural way and greatly increase your chances for injury. DON'T DO THEM EVER ! The ONLY and the BEST way to build massive delts is overhead pressing.

Choose one. Each workout should consist of 3 compound movements and optionally 1 abdominal or grip movement. Your workout should be done in 1 hour or less.

you say that upright rows are a bad exercise but i feel a good shoulder burn out of them. i don't do them very often though. after reading what you posted, i'm thinking i might drop them completely.

Judge the movement by your progress and carryover into other things not by the burn. I get good burns from lateral raises but that dont make me think they are a good movement. See where im coming from?
