How common is it to die from food poisoning?

I can't remember the last time I've heard of a case like this. It would appear that simply not properly reheating a bit of turkey properly cost one woman her life. How sad and how strange.

I came very close to it in Morocco.
Bed ridden for over a week.

Depends on the particular strain of bacteria or virus. Ecoli isn't something you want to ingest.

    Ignorance: Reassuringly Expensive.

I got it from a popular Mcfood chain. If id had to go through it much longer id have been tempted to top myself. Even after spewing and ****ting al the time, i couldnt move for a good 4-5 days. Worst week of my life

I used to get food poisoning several times a year for about 3-4 years running. Eventually they took some tests and I had some kind of poultry bacteria rife in my system.

Never eaten frozen cooked chicken strips again (I didn't eat them frozen BTW ), always cook it myself now and never had it again

You've lost me there I'm afraid. Poultry bacteria in your system? Where did it come from? You say that you always cook them yourself now, so who was cooking them before? Did someone try to kill you?
