More stretching and warm up. This click you are talking about is the rotaror cuff and will short term end in bursitis and long term a tear in the cuff. And going to eye level is fine for the shoulder workout anything lower than that is getting back into upper chest. Also take some weight off the bar and do slower reps. It's not a competition.
