How many shakes per day??

Hey guys,

Started workin out a few months back but stopped due to exams etc and got out of the swing of it big time. Currently in week 2 of my new programme and am dermined to stick it out this time. I'm in it for the long haul but i'm hoping to see some decent results after around 3 months. Have just bought 5kg of protein 80 (Euro) off myprotein etc and had a good workout today.

My question, how many times a day should I take the stuff?? I was thinkin maybe 3 times on a workout day and 2 on the days off? Overall my diet is pretty good coz I'm living at home. I do struggle to eat 5-6 times a day like is advised on a bulk cycle but what I do eat is clean.
e.g. oats/scrammbled eggs in the morning, roast beef sandwich for lunch, teatime is always steak/chicken/fish etc. Maybe a tuna sandwich later on. Should I use the shakes to kinda plug the gaps as well as after a workout. Also, if I take 3 a day, do you put on a lot weight other than lean muscle?? Cheers in advance

    It's only a suppliment,

how much protein do want to have a day (maybe 1g/ib of bodyweight, maybe 1.5) ?
how much are you getting through eating your real food?

I have one protein shake first thing in the morning and one after training.Tins of tuna are a good way to up your protein intake too.Dirt cheap and about 35g of protein per tin.Best not to rely too much on the shakes.

I find it gets a bit too expensive if I drink more than one or two a day.My brother recently bought a tub and it literally didnt last him a week. The stuff I get lasts me about 6 weeks which I can live with.Maybe I'm just a tight arse.

yes I agree, don't really on shakes. More than 2 a day is too many. I guess on someday's 3 is fine, but if ur taking that everyday it's not good. There's more to eating correctly than just getting enough protein. Real foods provide important nutrients not found in shakes.

    Tuna works great.

Why is 3 a day, every day too many? I have a good diet and take 3 shakes per day. Just don't understand where people get this clap trap from that more than 2 per day is too much.

Not everyone has the time to stop and eat solid food so shakes/mrps are a necessity.

i agree its easier to take shakes, i'll try to eat it in real foods when i can, also its expensive

i try and use my scoop of reflex and add a scoop of unflavoured. was ok when i wasnt saving up now im tryin to watch the pennies aswell

started taking drained tins of tuna to work, eat them at break and dinner with some water
