How many times a week should I workout? (gaining mass)

I want to gain weight and have been hearing different opinions. Some say 6 times a week some say you need more rest to gain muscle and only need 3. I am 6ft 153lbs with 8% body fat. I want to gain size as quickly as possible. I am going to try and eat 6 meals a day. How many times should I be in the gym and how long each time?

It's all down to you as an individual, everyone differs, I find I grow best with a 3 day split, plus I havnt got time to do anymore really

Some people go 5 times a week and it works for them, however I'd be more inclined to go for less if you want mass, hit it heavy and hard 3 days a week, the rest of the time eat and sleep as much as poss, you should gain nicely.

I forgot to mention that I do have the time to workout 6 days a week if necessary.

How long have you been training?

2 upper and 2 lower training session a week is good if you have the right set up and have the diet and rest/recovery aspects down.

What routine do you propose to use?

The above is scheduled like this:

    Mon: Upper 1
    Tues: Legs Quad dominant

Thu: Upper 2 (different from Monday)
    Fri: Legs hip/hams dominant
