I'd love to know if changing the flavour name makes much of a difference to sales lol there are loads out there now with names like "super chocolate", "double chocolate", "chocolate perfection", "chocolate cake" which all taste pretty much the same and could just be called "chocolate" and the same for the random dessert named flavours like "Raspberry Ripple" "Cherry Bakewell" etc. which used to just be raspberry and cherry flavours.

LOL @ the BP one - I suspect they were joking. As to putting names on stuff - like French Vanilla etc - it's marketing pure and simple.

Well I quite like drinking the left over gravy post roast dinner, but I'm aware that's not for everyone haha.

I mostly stick with vanilla or chocolate, those are usually drinkable even if not very good. Can't stand unflavoured, but will use it for blends and recipes and such (just can't drink it straight).

I do like one flavour or another but I find most elaborate flavours very artificial and couldn't stomach them on a regular basis. The ones I really like I generally can't be bothered to pay the premium for them, and usually go for a protein with better value. I'll look at the price and the aminogram (especially bcaa content) before I look at the selection of flavours.

Variety is definitely important and even a good flavour wears out. If you're gonna drink protein shakes every day I'd strongly recommend keeping more than one tub in stock (ie different flavours to choose from when you fancy a shake). Myself, nowadays I mostly just drink protein shakes pre-workout, so only 2-4 shakes per week.

I rep for GN on a predominantly US-facing forum and some of the flavours those guys have access to make the UK's choice seem comically limited.

Saying that, I've had a few guys asking for samples to be sent over of flavours like Black Forest gateau & blueberry cheesecake as they're not common flavours there.

I got a few samples of different proteins sent over here in exchange and there's not much to rave about. There's a flavour called 'Snickerdoodle' which is sort of cinnamon-y biscuit type. It was the best of an average bunch. Certainly wouldn't be going out any time soon spending £30+ on a tub

Its a funny thread . No 8s and 9s but as soon as someone brings out a new flavour theres a massive buzz about it.

Look at the quest protein thread. Nothing particulally special about it,You cant even buy it yet,  RobW has a said a few times the ingredients dont add up, it costs a fortune, yet its all over Facebook lol.

People clearly care about flavours.

no home grown brands going to step and make a quest bar and re-brand it?

they're not *that* much cheaper, they just go mad for buying in bulk and taking pictures of their chit - i rep on the bb.com forums for Go and some of the stacks people buy and post up are redonkulous, they could open shops with the amount of supplements these people buy.

there's a guy on there, rob, who must spend £8-900 a month on protein powders, bars and other stuff. he posts pictures up regularly of stuff he buys. I've seen smaller stashes at body power.

bit of a mystery to me as it would solve the problem of paying quest a big margin and also attract more business, certainly a hole in the market there i think.

off topic RW - you tried BBW flapjacks? are they hard in terms of texture? I remember white snake sci-mx bars but i didnt like those, are they similar if you have tried both?

BBW are very soft and chewy much more softer than the sci mx ones. The blueberry are the softest the others are a little harder I dont know why that is . Ive not yet tried the toffee apple so I dont know about that one but the blueberry are very soft mate.

That's like the bars that sound like "oh yeah" but aren't...
I buy a lot based on flavour, my fave being white choc pistachio by Scitech.
I also love TPW Caramel Macchiato flavour.

Flavours are a 9 for me. Not a deal breaker, but when I can have variety and numerous good tasting shakes for a few quid extra it is an easy option for me. I don't train or eat well just to not enjoy myself where possible.

I love reflex products, quality is in no doubt. But I genuinely don't think I have ever had a product from there where I've thought "wow that tastes good" - will be interested to see how mind blowing these are!

well partially, haven't seen the ingredients nor price yet! As already mentioned I remembered having a few reflex products back along time ago just because of the quality. However the taste was run of the mill and if im drinking it day in day then I need to at least like it a little. BBW 1 scoop unflavoured 1 scoop millionaires shortcake is doing it for at the moment with milk - FKIN YUMMY.

The ingredients list/carbs will interest me in the bar, but if it tastes ****e then theres no point in them trying to rival quest lol - just look at the posts on here, if quest dropped there prices or increased how many bars you got they would crush the market over here to i think.

Looks like they're just making quest bars from the picture and what they've said, and I doubt very much they'll be much cheaper, if at all.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.
