How to add an avatar? "File too large"!!!

I have got my Avatar down to 24K in memory size and everytime I upload it an error pops up saying "file is too large!"

How small does it have to be?

10kb mate - you may have a function to make the file smaller or i can do it - however i think you need 50 posts to upload your own avatar !!
