How was 2014 for you?

For me, 2014 was certainly one of the most challenging years of my life: I've had numerous unrelated problems which have brought my mood right down at times. But I'm going to look back on 2014 and say it was, in fact, a great year because I had several life lessons which at 41/42 I shouldn't have needed ... but I obviously did!

There have been some great events especially getting engaged and moving into our new house which we both love. I've also had some great times with friends and family and I enter 2015 feeling the most positive I have ever felt.

How about you guys and girls?

I'm putting it down as a decent year albeit had highs and lows of course.

Start of the year I was mega unhappy with work and ended up sorting that out, landed on my feet and doing well now.  Got into and got out of a relationship during the middle of the year, got into another shortly after which is going amazing, we've just had our first xmas together which was spot on.

A family member died unexpectedly earlier in the year which is I suppose the only major down of this year the rest is just life so to speak.

Gyms been ok although not reaped much in the way of results for one reason or another, new car later in the year all good, finances are all good the only thing last year lacked was a holiday so that will be made up for and then some this year!

A busy year that didn't reward me quite as much as I'd hoped. However, all things considered it was quite a good year.

    Utter sh*te, along with 2013 & 2012.

    In no particular order

    Mum died
    Granddad died
Wife diagnosed with hole in heart, organs starting to fail due to anorexia
Daughter has just been sectioned and put in a mental health unit due to repeated suicide attempts
Both my wife and I have been diagnosed with anxiety/depression because of all that has happened and had large amounts of time off work.

    a struggle of a year,
still trying to get to grips with my job and trying to learn more stuff.
failed the last exam i sat in November for the qualification im doing, so will have to resit a new paper this year.
seen a 2-3 girls in 2014, but nothing has worked out.
still got debt to clear (credit cards and overdrafts).
training has taken a hammering as i can finish late from work, loose motivation to go to gym due to lots of traffic and gym being rammed full of people.

2015 is a key year for me: clear my debt, start saving for a house, build more knowledge to help with my job, upgrade my car, find a decent girl, etc etc

    boom

Sounds like overall everyone had a fair year.
Id come into 2014 from the worst year of my life. This one's had its ups and downs. Got married Jan 2nd -always a good way to start the year, had a smashing year at work, wife's had ongoing health issues but other than that I can't complain.
Looking forward to channelling some positive energy into 2015

Not the best for me. It's well documented on here but me and the wife split for good in May after having time apart in January and 3 horrible months "trying again" before calling it a day in May.

I've spent the rest of 2014 picking myself up, getting over it and moving on. And whilst I've had some fun doing that, I wouldn't call it a happy period. I see it more as preparation for 2015 where I can do things properly and be happy.

One positive to come out of it has been my focus on training and running. I've been in the shape of my life this year and it's only going to get better. I ran my first half marathon and I plan to do a full next year.

Pigeonholing and adopting @I Like Poached Eggs' breakdown, my year went like this:
A mixed year for me too actually, but nothing really out of the ordinary:
    Health/fitness -
Not bad. Tried out quite a few (i.e. too many) training routines. Doing the GVT and a "6x6" routine towards the end of the year has seen me add a fair bit of mass which I thought I couldn't do anymore at my ripe old age
    Financial -
Terrible. Struggling with a huge consolidation loan from issues not disclosed years ago, it's been tight. However, with my wife retiring last month our mortgage has been paid off and 2015 looks much more upbeat for us.
    Work -
Same old same old. The night shift has been a bit of a crippler at times and I have had some terrible issues with my energy levels. I recognised this in my training and adapted my routines to suit. I usually curtail my sessions now at around an hour. I would love to get off nights (the work's fine, just the hours f*** up the body clock) but for another three years until the loan is paid off, it's an essential commodity.
    Family -
Wonderful. With two little grandkids to see regularly, I'm much happier. And I have a great wife. The one upsetting downside here is that my mother is suffering from dementia in a serious way now, but she's looked after well.
    Friends -
I have quite a few long-standing genuine mates who are always there for a pint and a helpful chat.
    Internet Life -
The net was completely new to this old fogey a couple of years back and I have struggled with a number of troll-like individuals in the past. MT is a much-welcome breath of fresh air and I hope to continue here for a long time.
Doing a journal is great for my motivation too, which is the main reason I'm on sites such as this.

Nope terrible year as I said I just didnt list all the things that have happened.

Its been **** culminating in my landlord wanting the flat back at Christmas im expecting bailiffs at any point now. Court ordered date was 29th of Dec.

I dont owe a penny in rent and hes still being paid in full he just wants it back as he can get more money for it which is his prerogative but he couldn't have picked a worse time as its been hell trying to find a place to rent this time of year.

Im trying to see it out till next week or a couple of weeks into the new year as im hoping things will pic up when people resume normal working hours and renting out stuff again.
