I really don't know what I'm doing...

Bonjourrrr, here we go again.

I don't know what the goals are yet, although I am having a good think of things which I believe are achievable. I will add more information in the coming days.

After 10 months out of the gym I didn't really know what to expect for my first session back.

Back squat

General warm up loads of reps with the bar to get the blood flowing

Deadlift raw
10 X 40kg
2 X 60kg (5 sets)
1 X 90kg (3 sets)
1 X 120kg (2 sets)
1 X 150kg double body weight

Strict press raw
5 X bar
5 X 40kg
2 X 50kg
1 X 60kg
1 X 70kg
1 X 75kg body weight strict press

Nice and easy today, I feel like I need to ease my way back in for the next few weeks.

Cheers guys, through the door again today 🤓

Quads have been on fire for the past couple of days and I have come to the realisation that my leg strength is in a facking terrible position.....

Power clean
2 X 30kg (5 sets)
2 X 40kg (3 sets)
2 X 50kg (5 sets)

Squat (ultra wide grip due to shoulder issues)
10 X bar
5 X 30kg (2 sets)
5 X 40kg (5 sets)

Loads of shoulder re-hab to finish

****ed it doing that 105kg strict earlier this year. Poor mobility pain in chest, scapula and front delt. Apparently I need to build up my stabiliser muscles.

Nice one mate. Any thoughts on routine yet? Goals? Would fit in well as a new years resolution.

Thanks for looking in mate. I'm looking at programs but I am undecided at the moment. I wouldn't mind doing an under 80kg or novice strongman comp this year. I would have to bulk slightly for this, as I am 75kg at the moment.

Lifting goals by the time the year is out are just getting back to my Max's which are:

Back squat 2 x 170kg
Front squat 150kg
Strict press 105kg
Push press 120kg
Deadlift 220kg

These were at around 90kg I did bulk up to just under 100kg a few years ago but did it too quickly and ended up feeling no benefit whatsoever. If I can get anywhere near the numbers above while staying below 80kg and injury free I will be a happy man.

Short session today, concentrating on technique and not much else. I'm hoping to see some decent progress within the next six weeks!

Squat (ultra wide grip)
10 X bar
5 X 30kg
5 X 40kg
5 X 50kg
2 X 60kg (5 sets)

Strict press
10 X bar
5 X 30kg
5 X 40kg
5 X 50kg
2 X 60kg (5 sets)

Deadlift
5 X 40kg (2 sets)
2 X 60kg (2 sets)
2 X 80kg (2 sets)
2 X 100kg (2 sets)
1 X 120kg (5 sets)
Sumo deadlift
5 X 80kg (2 sets)
5 X 100kg (2 sets)

Could someone please recommend a decent program for someone that is easing into things :)

Never heard of it before, but looks interesting. Primarily aimed at size over strength.
Have you done it yourself and if so did you see much progress?

Those are some good previous PBs mate. 105kg strict press is impressive!

If you decide to so GVT I would be very interested to see how you go.
Comparison pics would be mandatory but lol.

Re: I really don't know what I'm doing... 2017/01/06 15:20:36 (permalink)
Saying no to GVT lads. I am going to run 5.3.1 for 6weeks or so, I've ran it around a year after I started lifting and found it manageable while collecting decent rep pb's along the way. Hopefully it will help me stay injury free while I ease back into things.

I have set my numbers embarrassingly low, but I have to start again somewhere!

Squat 85kg, strict press 60kg and deadlift at 120kg

Today's abomination of a workout

Squat (ultra wide grip)
10 X bar
5 X 30kg
5 X 40kg
5 X 55kg
5 X 65kg
8 X 73kg LOOOOL My legs are rediculously weak! WTF HAS HAPPENED TO ME ?!!! I could definitely push press more reps with this weight at this moment in time.

Trap bar deadlift (don't know what it weighs so I'm going to add 20kg, although it feels heavier)
10 X 40kg (2 sets)
10 X 60kg
10 X 100kg (2 sets)

Finished off with some 5 sets on the leg press of 12 reps.

THE ONLY WAY IS UP...!!!!!

For you and me now :/
